We simply don't have the speed and playmaking up front to deal with athletic QBs.

More concerning is how they didn't respond after 1/2 time
It’s hard to believe with all of our safeties we couldn’t find a way to contain him.

You make it sounds like that it’s all Zappe has been doing for the last 3 games. It’s not!! It’s a half! Nobody is allowed to have a bad half? You use this half to make the point that Zappe is not the guy but ignoring all the halves that says that Jones isn’t either. Mac Jones deep aren’t always accurate. At least 2 picks in the first 3 games came from underthrown deep balls.

If Zappe plays more and it’s the same story you will not hear a single excuse from me but until then I want to see if he can work around his size.

In the end, my opinion is that both QB are similar but I think Zappe will make less bad decision with the football than Mac that’s why I want him.

I will stop responding to you on this matter in this thread because it’s clear neither of us will change our opinion so I will not continue in a deaf discussion.

Have a good night :)

People overrate what Zappe did the first three games. He didn't do much of anything in his first game. He threw 15 times for 99 yards and a TD even though playing most of game. He wasn't asked to do that much more against Detroit (the Pats passed 21 times and ran 35 times in that game) and did well. Only the Browns game was only game where he was really impressive.

Mac needs his confidence back, he needs to read the field and throw the ball on time

Last night was so not what I was expecting.

We were not ready to play. The defense giving up huge conversions all night was just plain ugly. Guys out of position or could not close gaps ... Ugly.

On the offense, what can you say besides full blown controversy? No life until Zappe sparked them a bit. But what was a strength turned into a weakness with the error prone oline. Jeeezzzzus.

Singularly the worst game of the season. I was disappointed.
I believe last night was more than just a bad loss deflating, defense had a bad day, they gave a hopeless and hapless offense life.. when u do that you get games like this!

People who watched more closely might know what happened there. Did we not assign a spy most plays? Was the spy super slow like Bentley or Tavai?

Macs confidence isn't the issue, he oozes confidence.. the more pressing issues are the disconnect and strife between he and the coaching staff.. last night was 90% om the defense..

We also played from ahead most of those games with the running game going.

Running game wasn't going last night and we were playing from behind. And zappe was shut down in the second half and threw 2 picks and had 4 tipped passes. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory.

Meyers isn't too happy either.

The spy could not get good angles when Fields ran

Last year Mac was calm and composed and we praised him for taking care of the ball and his pocket presence. Something looks totally different this year.

Only thing I can think of is going from McDaniels to two failed bozos in Patricia/judge. Anyone take a look at the giants since Judge left?

But Volin said nobody likes Mac. Weird…

Facts! I've been trying to stress that.. Flores and daboll by far are the most accomplished and respected coaches that ever left the BB tree.. I'd love to have McDaniels or dabol on offense..

That is the other thing with Zappe. When you live by the play action, you die by the play action. If the Pats cannot run the ball effectively, they cannot sell the play action and that has been a large part how Patricia has been getting separation for the receivers with Zappe to allow him to make plays. You take away the play action and Zappe doesn't look nearly as good.

I am not sure why he doesn't use play action with Jones. Probably because he trusts him to get the ball to the receiver in tighter coverage. Unfortunately, with Jones' current demeanor, I don't know if they can trust him. Against the Jets, they will need to use more play action with Jones.

But despite what the Zappe crowd thinks, the team is still behind Jones.

There is an absolute dearth of talent at ILB (and to a lesser extent, DL).

Why the hell BB continues to tally these hybrid safety tweeners, while the team hasn’t had a proper DT since Akiem Hicks nor a proper ILB since … hell … as long as I can remember, is completely beyond me.

The lack of proper investment at ILB is approaching the point of unforgivable. That must be priority #1 this off-season, right next to OT.

Patriots are now officially a dumpster fire
Especially the offensive tackle positions. And the backup center, Ferentz, who gets manhandled one on one.

How much longer can Marcus Cannon save the day at RT? Isn’t he close to retirement?

It was a horrible game last night, but to be fair when we were shutting Chubb out last week, I didn't hear you or anyone complaining.

I actually made that point a few weeks ago on here about burns, we need someone other than judon and wise to wreak havoc, also barmore was out to so that was huge.. I feel someone like alghlor/Bourne along with a 6th for burns could be feasible..
I would say forget about adding players to a potential trade... Panthers are looking for draft picks to jumpstart their rebuild

Yeah, they lack some talent at ILB but the defensive game plan was mind bogglingly bad. Very rarely did they spy, and when they did it was freaking Bentley half the time. The guy was on the field for nearly every snap including many 3rd and longs.

Whoever prepared that defensive game plan has a lot of questions to answer for.

Maybe Steve is a good guy and a good coach but I don’t think he appears to have the energy or engagement to be a DC. You need a high energy guy who will demand accountability.

I’ve been saying this team lacks serious talent at ILB for a long time.

Did McMillan play against Cleveland? Didn’t see him tonight. And the DL seemed to have more to do with stopping Chubb than the ILBs did.

Mac still doesn't look right, IR him until he's right. Do the right thing and Name a starter, going forward. it's just so hard on us as fans when our Head coach won't communicate other than the bare minimum.. I'd like to get a seasonal view of zappe to really judge him.. we looked like the worst team in the division last night..
I dunno if this was directed at me but I don't have a firm read on what to do about Mac... Unless that ankle developed a case of Foxboro flu last night you could try that... But the way Mac pushed to get back on the field, I'd think you'd have a real hard time convincing him to go along with that plan... Like NFLPA complaint hard time... Which would fracture any type of relationship the team has with him... The IR ship has sailed at this point
