Commit to Zappe, trade Wynn, trade Agholor, trade Mac in the off-season. Use your cap next year to build around Zappe and see what you can make happen.

No idea what the outcome of that would be but it’s one approach you could take.

If the Pats are giving up on Jones, they will probably be in the market for a new QB next year. I think Zappe will face what he faced in the second half tonight for the rest of his career. I think the Bears exposed his height as an issue. If you can neutralize him by flooding the passing lanes, he is never going to be a good starting QB.

They need to get Jones out of the funk and it starts by getting back to basics. I was shocked they went right back to the vertical offense that Jones struggled with before he was injured. I figured they would have mixed in some more short quick passes and pick their spots going down field. But instead, they went right back to asking Jones to huck the ball down field. It was a mistake.

Let's be honest, neither of these guys is likely to be a decade long franchise QB, Pats are treading water with these guys. Mac deserves more time to show what he can do through the end of the year, but signs are pointing toward a need to rethink the QB position and the coaches around the QB.
It's ok to tread water with them while we also get better at LT, RT, MLB (x2), WR, TE, FS (post McCourty), DE, and DT

The I'm out comment Mac made is definitely not a good look. I hope he gets his confidence back

Yup. Not as bad as screaming like Nancy Kerrigan after the ankle sprain though. But not a good look.

In fairness to Nancy, she did get whacked in the leg with a crowbar. Oh, and she's a figure skater. And a girl.

The coaching was truly atrocious. The defense was equally bad. BB had a bad week.

Zappe didn't cover himself in glory but he's the guy I want moving forward (and based on how that game finished, I sense that will be the case).

It seems to me Zappe's issue (primarily getting the ball across the LOS on the shorter stuff) is easier to work with/around than Jones' issues, which seem to be rooted in an ability to really feel the pocket and see the field simultaneously.

Play-calls, route-combinations, blocking techniques, little movements in the pocket to create lanes, etc can all help Zappe. If Jones can't consistently feel the pocket and see the field, I don't know how you work around that.

Zappe also has the ability to fit the ball into tight windows that Jones just doesn't.
I disagree with this 100%.

It didn't take long for the defenses to do to Zappe what the did to Mac last year. Which is cover the short stuff.

Zappe is not the answer. I'm not saying Mac is, not until he shows more gumption in the pocket and stops running into the pass rush. But Zappe is severely limited.

We need Mac to snap out of it and start taking advantage of the open man.

I like a lot of what Zappe does, pocket movement, stays cool, finds open guys, but he lacks accuracy on longer throws and his height will cause problems with tipped balls.

Mac looks awful right now, but we need to get him back to last year and hope he builds from there.

Otherwise, we're in the QB market.

Am I the only one who is blaming the silver pants?

What's worse is that zappe in the second half came back down to earth. And did nothing but tipped passes and 2 picks. So now what does Bill do?
Gameplan around it? Move the pocket? Further dropbacks? Low blocks on d linemen on quick throws? I dont know. Call Sean Payton and ask what he did with Brees?

Not saying he's the guy, but Mac Jones looked alot better last year when he had a real coach in McDaniels instead of two bozos in Patricia and Judge who decided to change the offense. How soon we forget all the praise he got last year.

Only thing changed was the offense and the coaching. To me that's a bigger issue. Bill hiring these retreads who have failed everywhere else.

Look at Daniel Jones now that Joe judge isn't his coach.

Wonder if it’s less about Zappe and more about a message to Mac. “Don’t blow it or you get pulled.”

How can you say Zappe lacks accuracy on deeper passes after tonight? Seriously?

Did you see the pass he made to Parker? The other pass to Parker that appeared to be caught but was ruled OOB?

His issue was getting passes batted at the LOS on the short-to-intermediate stuff. He threw the ball darn well down the field and fit it into some tight windows.

I don't get it.

Oh **** no here we go again

I’m on vacation in the caymans. My dad, who is down here with me but isn’t an avid sports fan, insisted we watch this travesty.

So far, I’ve got heavy blisters on my feet from walking too much, was unable to talk to the attractive bartender because he insisted on dominating the conversation and followed up with “Americans drive on the left side of the road. Oh, sorry, I wasn’t listening to you. We actually do drive on the right,” on top of watching the debacle. Trying hard not to commit patricide now.

Jk, I love the man but I need a vacation from the vacation now.
I live on another tax haven island but haven't been to Cayman, is it fairly Americanized? Good shopping, food, etc.?

A loss to the Jets next week and the Patriots are one of them middling 7-10 teams with no quarterback and no future.

He IS your boy, pal.

My boy is the guy who can be a good to great starting QB for this team. After tonight, no one is my boy.

Peyton is certainly one of the best offensive coaching minds in NFL History IMO
