You do know that Garret has been injured this year and although he played last week against the Chargers, he was a non-factor and showed up again on the injury report yesterday as a "limited participant".
Garrett still has the potential to ruin a game. If Mac plays, and he's less than 100% (in which case I wouldn't start him over Zappe), then Garrett isn't exactly the guy you want collapsing the pocket. Garrett has a nasty streak, he'll be gunning for the compromised lower extremity. Clowney too.

But in 2018 he was a "major factor" in us winning the Super Bowl. It's always a team effort, defense offense, coaching etc...but people on here always tend to minimize how important he was to that team.
He definitely did his job..powered through some huge holes created by an amazing o line. Did he make any significant runs on his own in that 2018 postseason without the aid of all time Greta blocking? Runs that made your jaw drop? In my opinion, no.

I don’t think we’ve learned a lot about Henry from these games. The first play of the game on Sunday his man collapsed and left him wide open.
Later he did do a good job with his out route vs zone.
Another one was a broken play dump off.

He still needs to get open more this year.

He played a good game against Detroit. I believe at least one of his receptions was against man coverage.

Credit where it's due. That was a good outing for him.

Garrett and Clowney..yikes. Two great players

Glad we have Brown at LT to handle the problem

Just don’t line up the T Rex armed first round bust guard Wynn on them

Truthfully that's what the postseason stats indicate. However, they were getting similar production (per average) from the other RBs and it was really about the o-line run blocking. It's not like Sony was elusive, breaking tackles and bulldozing defenders... he was mostly running through gaping holes.

I have said many times the holes Sony went through behind that OL in 2018 was Bigger than a alley way. That OL with Gronk would make any average RB look Great yeah Sony is average at best if he wasn't he would still be here he's only 27. That said he's a Lucky RB to have two rings already much better than him don't even have one.

If you watch his Georgia college tape, he had a lot of deficiencies with his inside technique. He also only ran against stacked boxes 10% of the time, and ran mostly against Nickel D’s while Chubb ran against 4 down lineman. Sony also never tested at the combine so we never got to see his athletic measureables and how they compared.

The question is could an elite inside runner with incredible vision like Chubb have run through those gaping holes in 2018? I say absolutely and he would have broke 1 or 2 for long touchdown runs

Take off your homer glasses. We already had James white. Also, You don’t spend a first round pick on a running back because of his ability to pass block. You take the guy who can win you games with his ability to run. Also where is this game tape of Sony’s elite pass blocking at Georgia? I have game film of him displaying terrible inside technique, where Chubb excelled at.

Yeah real football. Give me the bigger faster stronger more athletic back who rushes for 1500 yards and 15 TDs per year. You’re the same guy who defended the N’keal Harry pick for years.

You’re 41 year old argument makes zero sense. We drafted a guard with our other first round pick. There was plenty of blocking to go around. Brady wanted offensive weapons. Instead we gave him Michel and Harry.
Michel led the entire NFL postseason in rushing attempts, rushing yards, yards per carry and TD’s. They won a ring.

Beyond that, me trying to argue with you that pass blocking is important without being insulting about your level of football acumen would be impossible… so I won’t even try. This isn’t fantasy football.

Yes we know that. His lineman plowed holes that your next door elderly neighbor Edna could have ran through.

We had Pass Blocking. James white. A great 3rd down pass blocker who could catch. We Also drafted a first round guard who was supposed to excel in pass blocking. What we needed was a Blount replacement. A big workhorse back who could run and score goaline touchdowns.

Btw Sony sucked at pass blocking in the NFL so unless you provide game tape from Georgia which showed Sony pass blocking well, your point has no validity

Chubb would be a legend around these parts we would all be saying Curtis Martin who?? Yeah and Brady would probably still be a Pat with two or three more rings possibly. What might have been. :(

Nick Chubb has, and has had one of the best lines in the NFL. There’s no back who can succeed long term without one… short of Barry Sanders. Sony didn’t suck at pass blocking… that’s just a bad take.

Right! I loved Curtis Martin. 95-97 what fun years. What an incredible runner. 04 Dillon was a lot of fun too

Having a top 5 RB in NFL is a huge weapon and takes a lot of stress off your QB

If you watch Chubb’s college game tape..

First of all ..pre injury he looked immortal. Like a demi god. An incredible once a generation running back

Post injury..he looked really good, not quite as sharp. He did test incredibly well at the combine as an athlete, overshadowed by Barkley’s all time great performance. since coming to nfl Chubb seems to have recovered back to his pre injury days.

Anyways on tape..chubbs vision was insane. He was big, he could break tackles. No other runner could take a 0 yard run and turn it into a 3-4 yard gain. He had explosive fast twitch ability and could find that second level speed to run away from people. He was clocked at over 22 MPH in 2017, fastest recorded time that year in college. Chubb ran against stacked boxes his entire career in college and excelled. 3.9 yards after contact according to PFF

Chubb is a great player, he has even improved mightily as a pass blocker from then to now.

He sucked at pass blocking at Georgia and his first couple years in the league. Sony was great at it. This is why they drafted Sony, because he could play immediately. Tom would have kicked Chubb off the team if he couldn’t pass block, the kid would have lasted in the huddle less time than Jakobi Meyers did as a rookie.

This isn’t fantasy football… blocking matters. It ended Alex Smith’s career. Stop arguing the indefensible.

Where is this great pass blocking you see from Sony? Because no one else sees it

Also we had a great player for that role. James white. A pass blocking specialist. So why spend a first round pick on a position that you already have filled strongly?
