2022 Patriots Roster Cut Down Day Thread

I think most of us had the Pats keeping 5 safeties

A lot of us expected he would be cut and either brought back after players go on temporary IR, or signed to the PS. The reason is that he isn't subject to waivers and it's unlikely another team would sign a 33 year old career backup who only became serviceable recently.

If the Pats see him as a core backup and don't want to take the risk, I get it.
I feel the same way. That said, people are making comments saying they’re shocked BB chose Ferentz over Russey, but without realizing how much BB values knowing the offense in his centers. Add to it that it’s his buddy’s kid….

Finally, there’s no guarantee Ferentz won’t be cut for that same reason you mention. Both of them could be gone. The OL stunk this preseason, and he may want to explore waiver wire options first and sign Ferentz to the 53 or the PS as applicable after the process plays out.

I thought I read that yesterday. Don't tell me I'm dreaming about cuts now....

I just searched and couldn't find it
I went searching and couldn’t find anything. Scared me since I recently took him in a dynasty league.

He became serviceable?

A Peppers cut would be probably one of the bigger cutdown day surprises in years.

Technically, wouldn't it be either 6 or 7 safeties depending on us keeping Schooler and Cody Davis.

Unfortunately, this was when I thought Russey might not make the 53. Hope he makes it to the PS, though. I've liked what I've seen.
Russey should definitely have stonewalled that convergence of the entire DLine.....bum.

A few names I'm keeping an eye on: Pulling for:

Ray, Carl Davis, Hines, Schooler, Mitchell,

Sokol and Wyndermeyer I believe are going to be cut. Herron is on the bubble, depending on Cajuste's health

Up to date:

Boy sure wished we had double dipped @ WR now I thought Tre Nixon would have made the squad. Here's hoping he makes it to our PS and McDaniels doesn't scoop him up.

Sokol was actually impressive on STs
He might stick

He became serviceable?
He's miles ahead of where he was early in his Patriots stint. Back then, I considered him one of the bottom 5 players I'd ever seen play in the NFL. Now, I just consider him mediocre.

Veery surprised about Peppers, I thought for sure he would be our Big presence in certain Nickels and Dimes packages. Must mean good things for those who remains.*

But ok, Ive got a hot take:

You guys wonder why Ferentz is constantly around but loooooove Andrews around here. Nepotism aside, it's a very similar situation to me, of course with Andrews being better, even if it is by default: Guy with "smarts" rather strenghts, probably a wormbook and coach-friendly.

*I got hot take*d too, Im sorry
