DRAFT Cole Strange-Welcome to the Pats

It’s time to move on from BB, this pick is indefensible.
But…but you don’t understand. This guy Strange is old school. He doesn’t have any gloves or pads or tape on his hands or arms.

Bill likes this old school guy, the rest of the world’s opinion be d-med.

Poor Strange. He’s in a no/win situation.

Well, there's always next season.... to be disappointed again.

Bad Bill is back in the house. You know, I really want someone to draft for us like they’re not trying to show they’re smarter than everyone else.
How about you go watch Strange's practices for the Senior Bowl? Where he played CENTER after having all of 1 game there his entire career.

He more than held his own against opposing players.

I really wish FANS like you would stop thinking you're smarter than a Coach who has won 8 SBs and been to 12 of them. Belichick is the the GOAT of Football Coaches. Yet YOU think he's trying to show he's smarter than everyone else by picking Strange. A player who is versatile and has a mean streak on the O-line. Seriously.

LOL. So why aren't all y'all sitting in the draft room then? Who's been the most productive team of the last 20 years? Can that really be done with endless crappy selections? I have heard this lament SOOOOOOOOO many times. Kyle Duggar! WTF! NOT EVEN DIVISION 1!

Last time we drafted a guard in the first round he played with us for a decade and made the Pro Bowl. I recall similar outrage at that time too. Boo hoo.
Man shut up

I don’t love the pick. Feels like bad value. That being said most evaluators had him as the third best guard. Maybe 4th. The problem is that they all had a big drop off at the position after the top two guys.
I can get past all of that.

I can’t get past the fact that this was only a need because we traded away a high level guy who was on a cheap value contract for a 5th rounder. This was all to save a few million and complete neglected every other bigger need on the roster. (Could’ve used the extra few million to attempt to resign JC Jackson, but what do I know?)

He is your week one starter. I mean, you want your first round pick to be a starter as a rookie, right? But, unless you painted yourself into a corner, why not trade down again and grab him in the second?
It takes TWO to trade. Why not think about that for awhile.

A guard can be value in the first round Nelson was a damn good pick for the Colts.

It was a position of need.

Strange was the third best guard in the draft. Most thought this it seems

Some team (and likely multiple) that drafted a WR in the first round is going to get little production from him.

So that’s the positive.

The negative, it was a reach. At 53, it would have felt like good value.

Yeah the most productive team with Tom Brady as the QB the jury is still out on BB without TB. Last year's draft was promising, I like the player I just don't like when he was selected. Let's see how it plays out

They were reporting on TV, that someone was trying to trade with the Vikings to get back into round one. Likely to get a fifth year option on a player. Obviously I don’t know what was being offered.

Was this a bone to Fat Matt who’s going to coaching the Oline?

No issue with the player but the pick is just gross. I don't mind even if you reach slightly for him at 54 but you have to be cognisant of league wide value and ratings. No one was selecting him in the top 50 surely. Awful pick.
The top guards were gone. There is reason to be confident that the team GM's wouldn't draft the guard they might want before 54.

You are all coming to the painful realization that Bill the GM is sabotaging Bill the coach, the best in the business.

Captain Stone had been right all along.

We used a 1st rounder on a guy we could've gotten in the 3rd round....
angry the office GIF
I'm SURE that YOU could have gotten him in the 3rd round in your fantasy draft.
