I think it was just economics. He was in his last year, and cheap, for the Pats. The Rams gave him like 80 million there. From all accounts a stand up human being and great teammate.
I still think BB was angry Cooks put himself with a lack of awareness to try to make a play in the SB.
Him getting injured and leaving the game cost us the the win.
I think BB was so angry he traded Cooks for that main reason.
Not that he got hurt but the fact his lack of awareness caused him injuring himself on the biggest stage.
The moment that injury occurred I turned to my buddies and said BB is trading or releasing him.
We can argue Bill thought Tom’s deep ball lost something and that is where Brandin really shines.
I believe it was that play in the superbowl that sealed that fate.
That Philosophy worked well then and with the Goat at QB.I think it was just economics. He was in his last year, and cheap, for the Pats. The Rams gave him like 80 million there.
I never thought he was a “game-changer,” just a really good 1b WR. This is a perfect example for BB’s WR philosophy of quantity of good above the super shiny toy.

WR has become the second or at worst third most important position on the field.
1.QB
2. DL
3. WR
I remember Brady very well in those early years. I think the philosophy played to his strengths, which are supposedly Mac's strengths as well, and is a big part of the reason WHY Brady is the GOAT. Lots of dependable, sure-handed targets on every play, and Brady knew how to view them to identify who was getting open. That Philosophy worked well then and with the Goat at QB.
This is a different NFL from even 5 years ago and as high as I am on Mac, the chances of him matching that is slim at best.
Brilliant. Finally explains why he drafted Bethel Johnson over Boldin, Chad Jackson over Greg Jennings, Dropson over Keenan Allen, and now Harry over every else after him.So if we look at this the receivers we missed on will all be the highest paid in their class.
Heck of a rookie class, we draft the guy who will be lucky to get over league minimum.
This was Belichick knowing he didn’t want to pay top money for a receiver.
Genius
Bill playing chess again.
Now you know.Brilliant. Finally explains why he drafted Bethel Johnson over Boldin, Chad Jackson over Greg Jennings, Dropson over Keenan Allen, and now Harry over every else after him.

Gronk bad mouths pats again on Jimmy Kimmel, saying that Pats try to prevent players from achieving bonus targets.
May hurt for future potential UFA for BB
Do you think Gronk ever gets into the Pats HOF?Gronk bad mouths pats again on Jimmy Kimmel, saying that Pats try to prevent players from achieving bonus targets.

If it would hurt BB, I would guess it already is or has. How many players have come and gone during BB’s tenure with the Pats? Do you really think this information wouldn’t have been spread among all of the players? Don’t think the agents know this already, if true?Gronk bad mouths pats again on Jimmy Kimmel, saying that Pats try to prevent players from achieving bonus targets.
