BB in damage control mode regarding Brady's departure

Lol, Armstead was an UFA. The #1 FA! He wasn't cut. Buy yourself a clue.
You are wrong. They released hit and have an 11 million dead money hit. You don’t have a dead money hit on a player who becomes a free agent.

Look at dead money at the bottom of the page.

He didn't mean the entire $70M and you know it. That's not how it's done. It would have required dipping into 2021, 2022, and maybe a small amount of 2023 to spread out the signing bonuses.
He said all of the money spent on free agents in 21 could have been spent in 20. They spend 70 million in first year cap hits in 21. You can’t do that if you don’t have 70 million. Duh.

Of course you do, if it was a void year. McCourty had a dead money hit (void year) this year and he was a FA. I see you don't know what you're talking about, so I'm done.

You should be done, everything you have said is wrong.

Let's bet since you're so sure.

$100 that Armstead (LT) was an UFA not cut;
$100 that a FA can have a dead money hit in the year they are an UFA;
$10M that you won't take the bets.

We all know you wouldn’t pay. A FREE AGENT does not have a dead money hit.

I’ll take all 3. You owe me $10,000,000. Pay up.

So you conceed Saints LT wasn't cut. Admit you were wrong. It's easy, say: I was wrong.

So you degrade the roster by losing Thuney.

Chung retired. Hightower opted out. McCourty had no where near the amount of savings available.

Your Brady comment makes no sense.

There were NOT a lot of options. They lost players off the 2019 team, they had dead money. They did not have contracts that could readily free up much money without being stupid.

You can’t “borrow” from the future cap. I see now why your posts are so bizarre, you do not understand the cap.
I suggest you go do some studying on how the cap works. Borrow from the future, Jesus.
I get it hurts your feelings, but signing bonuses are exactly that, borrowing money. Voidable options are even more so.

Antonio Brown when he signed a 1 year contract with Pats for 15mil, actually signed 2year Voidable option contract, so instead of being paid the entire 15mil in 2019, he only counted 6mil against the cap in 19 and had a 9mil dead cap hit 2020, so 9mil of his 15mil contract was borrowed from future capspace.

Man you are obtuse, but that's what emotion does

The patriots spend 70 mill in FIRST YEAR HITS on 2021 signings.
That is absolutely not what brown signed.

You don’t borrow from future cap years.
The signing bonus is spread over the contract. That’s how it was done in 21 and that’s how it would have been done in 20 if they had 70 mill to soend in first year hits. They didn’t.
They could not borrow it from the next year.

Again moving the goal posts. You said it couldn't be done. We gave you an example. One of many. It most certainly could have been done. You are wrong.
Exactly, the guy is a fool. The Pats could have made it work but chose not to.

https://syndication.bleacherreport....They could not borrow it from the next year.
Its ok, the facts can't hurt you

Was Brady an UFA in 2020?

I remember this being a hot topic on the board as many didn’t know the Pats were taking a cap hit even though he was a FA unless he re-signed by a certain date. He didn’t and I remember a lot of butt hurt posters on here.

You turned the bets down, remember?
No I did not. I stated that you wouldn’t pay them, which also is correct.
Venmo?

You haven’t given a fact.

You are saying they could have signed players with 70 million FIRST YEAR CAP HITS because they had money in future years. They would have needed 70 mill THAT YEAR plus all the money they had in future years.

Your “plan” was let the best OL walk, and save cap room on a retired guy and opt out and by signing McCourty to EXACTLY THE SAME CONTRACT THEY DID. Your plan saved $0.00. But there are plenty of ways right? Shocking you can’t even think of one. You are still 70 million short, keep going.
