NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

We need a pass rush more than anything on this team. More than a CB.
Usually pass rushers are really expensive in free agency. I think if the pass rush is going to improve it will need to be through player development or draft rather than a free agent signing. I'm hopeful that Uche and Perkins can provide pressure.

We need both. We're facing many mobile QBs that will buy time against pass rush. Need better secondary to hold.
I watched Josh Allen all year. He is severely impacted by a pass rush, no matter how mobile he is. He quickly loses the plot and stops going through his progressions, as he's got his mind on running, but most times it doesn't work out for him.

Sure but that assumes Butler/Mills can hold long enough to force him to run. It didn't work out that way last season w/ JC/Mills.

And I get that's why you propose better pash rush which I agree with. What do you think of Clowney?

What is best Patriots defender Deatrich Wise? Chopped liver?

I don’t consider Wise to be much of a pass rushing threat. In terms of upgrades I think the Pats pass rush could improve with a better pass rusher at his spot.

I still hope they sign Flowers who is a similar player to wise only better.

There's a rumor that Jackson Mahomes recruited JuJu.

Some people just want to roll with Burrow.
That Cincy offense is fun to watch.
Have dreams we can get there.
Dream bigger my friend. Dream bigger.

We didn't get any rush on him. That's the whole point. A lot of teams are going with substandard CBs now and relying on pass rush.

When they take the rush off or stop blitzing, look what happens.

I'm talking about the Bills without Tre White or the Bengals. These teams thrived with pass rush but got burned otherwise.

Have a look at this play:

See how quickly Allen looks to run when there's even a whiff of pressure on him? Right here the edge guys blow by him which allows him to leak out, and that's when he's super dangerous. But if you can pressure him a little without allowing him to break, you've got him.

Believe it or not, some teams did exactly that against the Bills. It's why they lost 7 games.

The Patriots don't have the personnel to do it, as they need one more guy up front to join Barmore and Judon.

Sure, I agree Pats need to improve their pass rush especially with all the mobile QBs they'll be facing. However, if they don't improve their downfield coverage with all the talented WRs they'll be facing, it'll make for very long games.

On that play, I see Allen after he leaks out immediately looking down field for a pass. That's what makes him so dangerous. He's big, strong, fast & has a cannon for an arm. He's going to be a problem for years to come.

????

I couldn't have been any clearer. I said when you let him out he's dangerous. But that's not the point. The point is he tends to look to run or panic when people are pressuring him. This is why the Bills weren't world beaters during the season. This was an example of KC doing it wrong. They sent 4 guys and had one guy as a spy. You can't send 3 up the field in that situation.

Regardless, you'll have to explain to me what's so great about the CBs we saw in the final games of the postseason. Ramsey was the only one who was a top CB. The Bills had no one out there. Same with Cincy. Same with KC. The common denominator is that all these teams had good pass rushing.

GIve me the list of QBs (mobile) that don't panic, look to run when being pressured?

Mahomes?
Jackson?
Watson?
Wilson?
Rodgers?
Herbert?
Murray?

The only ones that come to mind are Brady (he can't run) and maybe Burrow.

I can't remember the last time the Pats made a deep playoff run w/o a good CB#1.

Wanting to go on a playoff run with a shaky secondary is playing with fire. You have to lean on your offense to put up points.

I hope Hicks comes back. Should have never left.
Hicks didn't want to stay. At the time he wanted to go to a team that was rebuilding.. Can't fault him for that.

I don't have the answers on who so maybe I should just shut up. Hah. I am very concerned though, I have to say. Hoping for some post-1 veteran cuts.

I think a rookie / draftee like J Johnson will take a pretty long time to get into the rotation, so he won't help this year.

Herbert stays in there. He really does. I think Mahomes stays in there longer than Allen as well. Rodgers for sure, as he stays in the pocket. Haven't seen too much of Murray.

Seriously, watch the Chargers - Raiders game that ended the season.

Yet, every single team that showed well in the playoffs had a shaky secondary except the Rams. 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, Bengals.
