It's easy, and only takes a few moments. So you haven’t seen any film on either one, haven’t talked to anyone who has seen them play and can’t cite any media reports. So you’re just guessing. Got it.They're good athletes. They have half the boxes checked off already. Both players showed promise in Canada or here.
I expect the Bears to make dumb moves like keeping overhyped overpaid stiffs on their roster and let promising players walk. If you think what the Bears do validates anything, stop watching football... take up basket weaving instead.
They have the replacement for him and it's OnwenuAs much as I want to hope Desjarlais and Hambright can step in and kiss butt, this is the most head-scratching move of the off-season to me.
Mason was not overpaid - wasn't really making all that much, and is only 28. The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to extend him, or feared a Gilmore situation (no guaranteed money). I doubt there was anything on tape. Mason's been a great player for years.
Could be that they think Onwenu NEEDS to be in the RG spot, I guess. They were putting him at RT and LG from the start, though. They have the replacement for him and it's Onwenu
Onwenu was put at LG and RT because the RG position was filled. Apparently, Mason also was much stronger at RG than anywhere else. We can keep on talking about Onwenu as a RT, and how he played there so well. The reality is that when Brown went down, it was Herron who played RT.Could be that they think Onwenu NEEDS to be in the RG spot, I guess. They were putting him at RT and LG from the start, though.
Could be that - much like letting Johnson go because they're going away from a true FB, apparently (probably why they didn't protect Ben Mason either).

Much can happen in 5 months. We need three additions. They don't have to be rookies.OL struggling to tread water. How much help can we expect from rookies?
I don't know who or what to believe when it comes to Bill.Remember that, according to reports, the JAG trade was basically BB just calling up the 49ers and saying "If you want him, he's yours for a 2nd".

Onwenu is a backup or marginal starter at LG and RT. I think that team considers him a solid starter at RG. Many of us always thought that this was his best position. However, Mason was certainly better.
They have 4 TE’s who can play FB, take your medsUnless Dalton Keene becomes the next Kyle Juszcyk, then not retaining local dude & Pats fan Ben Mason makes No ****ing Sense Whatsoever.
I expect to see Onwenu at RG.As I posted earlier, Onwenu had played ALL 3 positions, though RG was the one he took the least snaps at. He actually graded highly at both LG and RT both seasons.
Which Mason?I expect to see Onwenu at RG.
I like the new right side with Andrews, Onwenu, and Brown.
And I'm fine with gaining cap space to have this change.
And I'm OK with Mason as the Game Day backup at RG and RT.

I think you're forgetting Mason Jarr...he's a bit stout but has a reputation of being a bit like glass...hope this helps..There's Shaq Mason now w/ the Bucs.
There's Ben Mason (FB mentioned above) now w/ the Ravens.
There's Master Bates who isn't really a Mason but is coming in for a meeting.
Either way, none of them are on the team.
