Report: Brady tried to push Belichick out for Bill O'Brien

He beat the top defenses of 1984 and 1989 in the...super bowl.
Yeah but those defenses played lousy schedules and sucked the following year, so they weren't really top defenses right? That's how it works, right...? Right...? Hello...???

SF's defense is 100% responsible for half of Joe Montana's Super Bowl victories.
And in an era before free agency. How many super bowls do you think TOmmy would have if it it weren't for all the great free agents Bill signed for NE like Rodney and Revis and the ones that Brady brought along to play with him in Tampa like Fournette and Brown?
Just as many because he never would have lost the likes of Milloy, Law, or Seymour

As you like to say, these are the facts:

Super Bowl rating: Montana > Brady

Overall playoff rating: Montana > Brady

And Montana did it in a much more difficult era for the quarterback. In addition, he never played out of the shotgun - imagine if he did and how much quicker he'd get the ball out to his receivers. Did I mention that Montana had way fewer passing attempts per season than Brady?

Bb had rings before Brady. Next idiotic post?
Obviously not as a head coach. Parcells gets credit for those. Parcells also won SBs with two different quarterbacks, won a division with three different franchises, and got to the postseason with four different franchises.

In other words, Belichick's record is really good here in the years that you're questioning.
2000: 5-11
2001: 0-2
2008: 11-5
2016: 3-1
2020: 7-9
2021: 10-8

2000... first losing season since 1995. Carroll finished 6 games above .500 with a division title and a 1-2 postseason record.

2001... 14-3 with a Super Bowl title after Brady took over.

2008... nearly undefeated with essentially the same team from a season prior... only significant difference was the quarterback.

2016... got shutout 16-0 against Buffalo in Foxboro. A few weeks later with Brady they scored 41 points in a blowout at Buffalo. Brady was 14-1 in 2016.

2020... meanwhile Brady wins a Super Bowl with a franchise who had the lowest winning percentage of any professional sports franchise.

2021... one less defeat than the 2020 season.

And if you had half a brain, you'd realize what a difficult job it is to rebuild a team into a contender. Bill didn't have the luxury of going to a talented team and bring along a few more pieces to win a title. Bill had to almost start from scratch.
The same Bucs team that you ripped to shreds all the way up to their Super Bowl title? You basically said Brady couldn't throw anymore and he was playing behind a horrible o-line. Could you be more wrong?

Belichick had to start from scratch?? You mean after those 16 division titles in a row that Brady gave him? Funny how a HC goes from an unprecedented run of success to starting from scratch after his QB leaves. What does that tell you??

By my count, I have Bill's defenses being more responsible for 4 out of 6 Patriots super bowls.
Brady led a game-winning drive in all 6 SB wins. The defenses gave up leads in the 4th-quarters of all 3 of the losses (including 2 with less than a minute left in the game).

He wasn’t even gud until Moss!

Why include post season stats?

those surely stand alone... the only other player who comes close to games played post season during that stretch has to be the fivehead...

Really? Pete Carroll? You really gonna go there?

well, i guess thanks are in order for vividly illustrating why stupid people shouldn't use numbers...

Pete made a mess of the Pats in the three years he was here... From first to worst in three short years... the offense went into the tank, and the defense was holding on by its teeth...

Brady didn't give him anything. It was a collaborative effort between coach and QB. To say otherwise means you love Tommy more than you do NEP. Bill has to rebuild here in NE. He's got aging veterans that need to be replaced with younger players. That's going to take some time.

Just about every QB who wins a super bowl engineers "game winning drives"....that's what a QB is supposed to do. As far as the losses are concerned, you might want to watch the video of those games again:

SB 42 - Giants D gassed in the 4th quarter allowing Tommy to actually move the ball. In fact, Tommy had 27 seconds left and 3 TOs to get the ball only 40 yards or so for the game tying field goal. Instead, Tommy was taking deep shots to Moss???!!!!

SB 46 - Tommy's offense didn't score a single point after the opening drive of the 3rd quarter.

SB 52 - NE never led in the game

Yes they did. The defense of course blew it.

Tommy had the ball with 2 minutes left...
When the defense allows 41 points and 538 yards to a Nick Foles offense including 9 catches for 84 yards from our good friend Nelson Agholor, and 6.1 yards per carry there's no "but Tommy" about it.

Belichick could have corrected that anytime he wanted but he chose not to.

When the offense scores a mere 14 points and 17 points vs NYG, there is no "Belichick" about it.

Tommy could have figured out how to play the Giants defense any time he wanted but he chose not to.

Reactions: sb1
I think a game where the defense gives up 41 points in a Superbowl is a bad argument to make.

You could just say Superbowl 36 and 53 is where the defense pretty much carried the teams

SB1 is correct that the Pats led at one point in SB 52. And I admitted that the defense is more responsible for that loss than anything. However, he and others refuse to blame the offense in SB 42 and 46, which is asinine.

I would say 46 the offense did fail once Brady got hurt on his shoulder is sputtered and let the Giants comeback. 42 yeah 14 points is unacceptable.

I kept saying the defense let the team down since the offense gave them the lead, but the strength of those teams was the offense. So they should've played better

Here is a simple question I know you will be too chicken to answer:

If you were a QB and had to choose, would you rather have 7 championships or 4 championships but a higher rating?

Here comes Andy with his typical maneuver where he responds to the post (because he has to have the last word) without answering the simple question being asked in 3.... 2................

LOL, is this before or after B O'B and Brady almost came to blows on the sideline? After all, Bill O'B did such a great job in Houston as head coach...

I would rather be undefeated with 4+ rings because every quarterback who has lost a super bowl says it sucks.

Christ, Brady didnt do this, Brady didn't do that! He needed this, he needed that! If it wasn't for this if it wasn't for that! Except for a few back handed acknowledgements, everything you post is a negative stat on Brady. You know almost 100 percent of the sports world acknowledges he's the GOAT by a wide margin. He's been voted by his peers in the top 10 of 100 PLAYERS every year they had it. Your response? Duh, it was everyone else, not Brady. Honestly I think Rob Parker steals all your ideas. Please stop for his reputations sake You make home look like a fool. And please stop trolling this forum.

Not the GOAT of the Super Bowl. He can't even beat one of the worst teams to ever field a team in the super bowl in the 2007 NYG.

He has more Superbowl MVPs than anyone else has Superbowls. Please stop. Mods? Seriously. If we want to restore the main forum to current events then he needs to stop trolling. He is the worst offender and these threads are poisoned with his taunting. He is begging for responses and attention.
