Von Miller is a Buffalo Bill

Listening to Bills radio this morning was hilarious.

WGR host: "Von Miller is taking them to 17-0, last piece. Super Bowl guaranteed. And not a one year shot, he's signed for 6 years."

Other host: "And the best part of this is the Patriots are unraveling. They can't sign anyone, no one wants to go there."

Host #1: "It's because Brady isn't there any more, sure it's easy to sign all these free agents when you have Brady, but when he's gone, no one wants to play for Belichick."

Host #2: "They even went on a spending spree last year, and who did they sign? Agholor, Bourne, Jonnu Smith? A helluva lot of good that did. Embarrassing to spend all that money for that. Sure overspend on nobodies."

Their Tech guy pipes up, as he does occasionally: "Matt Judon was the only big name."

Host #1: "Yeah but he's a defensive player; he's not going there to play with Mac Jones; and they can't sign a bigtime receiver to play with Mac Jones."

----------------

The idiocy of Bills fans and talk show guys is really a sight to behold. The delusions are funny, but they can't even see the hypocrisy. Von Miller isn't catching passes from Josh Allen!! How did he even utter that without any retrospection?

Not to mention: let's go over all the great WR FAs the Patriots brought in, Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Lloyd, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola... etc. Did these guys all come to play with Brady? Were they stud WRs?

They are definitely all in. Cant blame them too much either they are right on the cusp of a title. Im hoping we stay the course, spend accordingly to our current cap situations and dont panic. We knew itd be a multi year build and right now buffalo/kc are major hurdles no matter who we sign. We will slowly get there

$20 million a year for a 9-10 sack guy is a lot of money...

Crazy money for an aging player who, while still good, is no longer elite.

(2) time Super Bowl Champion. Super Bowl MVP. He brings a winning culture to the locker room. They are trying to break the curse of Doug Flutie.

I would argue that if BUF had Von Miller last year, instead of LA, that BUF would have had a much better chance to win the Super Bowl.

The Rams saw what they had to start the season, and chose to trade for Von Miller, who played only half of the regular season. Was he really worth a 2nd and 3rd for a rental? Was Beckham worth the money that the Rams paid him for part of a season?

Well that escalated. I could see him Terrorizing poor Mac Jones for years, much like Jason Taylor used to shred our OL when he played for the Phins.
Funny you mention Jason Taylor, as that is exactly who I was comparing Von Miller to. So let's take a look at Jason Taylor shall we...

Would you look at that... He turned 33 in 2007 and that was his last really good year.

I could easily see history repeating itself. So if Buffalo really only wanted one good year out of a guy they gave a 6 year (really 3) contract, they might not come out looking too good on this one.

I suppose some might say his 2009 year was decent, but at what cost on your salary cap? Plus - they moved him to LB that year, which, depending on their defensive set that year, may something to do with his tackle numbers going up.

And we're in a win now deal with the cap later league.

Yeah I think if they win the Superbowl within these 2 years with him being a key part it will be worth it. They have to win it though

I agree. If he puts them over the top it is all worth it.

If every team starts doing This, then the NFL is gonna become a team with most superstars wins for two seasons before their downward descent and the next win now team takes it place for the 3rd year and cycle repeats. The only constant would be a superstar / above average QB . So 2 years of awesomeness, 3 years of utter crap and 5 years of acceptable performances per franchise might be in store when averaged over a decade.

Now don't ask me how I got these numbers . Just some random crap that I could conjure off for now.

IDK, if they only get one really good year out of Miller and two more mediocre to average years, they wasted a lot of money. You need at least two Pro Bowl/All Pro type years out of him with this contract. He is being paid over the next three years the top of the market money. One top of the market year in production isn't enough.

And I would argue that Taylor was already showing signs of age at 33, but was so much better than most of the league that he was still a top DE.

I know, how do they have all these expensive players
The same way we got them last year, by pushing contracts into the future. What do you think is going to happen to the Bills in the future? They're going to have to pay for all this. It's the very same reason they did nothing last year, because there was nowhere to go. They could have used Matthew Judon this past year, instead of relying on Epenesa and Rousseau who provided no pass rush. Maybe they get to Mahomes when he threw to Hill and Kelce with 13 seconds left.

Freeney is the last guy I remember being really effective at the age we're talking about for Miller.

After the way Judon finished the year... no thanks.

Josh Allen was turning him inside and out in those last two games.
