NEW ARTICLE: Five Things to Know: Patriots and NFL Thoughts for 2/23

“I guess they feel like they don’t need me,” Jackson told Perry. “I guess I can’t be that important to them. I know I am, but they’re not showing me.”

Why do players say needless sh!t like this?

2) One of the areas to keep an eye on this offseason is whether or not the Patriots opt to add talent to their receiving corps, as it certainly feels like they were one player short at times throughout the 2021 season...

If Bill does the smart thing and trades down from #21 for extra picks, including another 3rd-rounder, then he can use one of those 3rds on Mac's buddy John Metchie if his recovery is on schedule... There should be other good prospects available throughout the 3rd round if not him...
JuJu is interesting, but unless it's a reclamation project or cap casualty both of whom are willing to work for Cheap, help likely won't be coming from the UFA market...

Speaking of... Every time I see Marvin Jones I think of OchoStinko...

If the team had interest in Jackson, they would be contacting him with offers. Jackson is telling everyone that this isn't happening yet.

I thought I read that they at least had discussions during the season, so what is likely happening is that Bill has already presented a number and isn't budging from it until free agency begins... I really, Really hope that he hasn't under-estimated JC's league-wide value to a point that re-signing him without the franchise tag will be impossible; the talent drain at CB would then be just one player away from being 100% Complete.

Yes, that's what Perry said in his report.

This is directly from his article:
--
Jackson said that the Patriots approached him about a contract extension during the 2021 season. Though a deal wasn't done at the time, Jackson said that there were no hard feelings on his end about the result.

"It was all positive things," he said. "I wanted to focus on ball at the time. I wanted to finish the season the right way. I didn't really come back to them on it."

That's what happened with Thuney. It seems they present what they consider to be a good, but team friendly offer and the players balk. Even when tagged, they end up leaving.

Not sure what the point is of paying a player a high cap contract if they end up leaving after a year anyway. I'd rather use that $17.5M of cap space on a player(s) with long term contract(s). Only 2 young comparable corners are Carlton Davis, who probably gets franchised by the Bucs; and Charvarius Ward, who isn't really a No. 1 corner.

They should just pick the best available corner in 1st or 2nd round.

Yep, after one or two trade-downs to fetch us At Least an extra 3rd-rounder, 5th-rounder & 5th next year (or one more Day 3 pick)... Kyler Gordon & Roger McCreary might still be available at 32-37... Bill MUST draft a CB before Day 2 is Done.
