That’s actually not the origin story of Mortimer Porksley. The original one was somewhere in the Pub. I could tell it hit close to the mark based on his reaction. I’ll be damned if I can find it now, though. Might want to have a seat before I tell you this, because it is truly shocking - either the post or the entire thread got deleted. I know, right? Here? Who would have thought?

Anyway, that story isn’t finished yet. We still need to cover Mortimer’s college years, his trials and tribulations with the opposite sex, his transformation into a “man,” and his career as a paralegal. I’m thinking there might be two parts left.

This story needs its own thread.

You don't understand the concept of quarterbacks playing in different eras, do you? I mean if you have guys like Matthew Stafford (a non HOFer according to many on this forum) throwing 41 touchdowns, what does that tell you about how watered-down the league has become? It's too bad Brady didn't show up in SB42 after he guaranteed more than 17 points lol.
That's another lie. Brady never guaranteed more than 17 points in that SB.

Other quarterbacks to win Super Bowls in Montana's era: Jim Plunkett, Jim McMahon, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien and Jeff Hostetler. That's pretty bad. Montana played in an era when even chump quarterbacks win championships regularly. Therefore he sucks too. Obviously.

Another interesting topic perverted by a moron's persistence.
Sadly, Ignore Thread on!

Not even sure why Montana's sub-goat career is even mentioned in the same breath as Brady.

The ideal gas law definitively proved (as well as the NFLs antics) that Brady did not cheat WRT deflated balls.

We have definitive proof that one of Montana's WR Jerry Rice did in fact cheat as he admitted it:

“I know this might be a little illegal, guys, but you put a little spray, a little stickum on them, to make sure that texture is a little sticky,” Rice said with a laugh as part of an ESPN feature regarding the evolution of gloves.May 12, 2020

Tainted Joe will forever have an asterisk next to his name because of this.

@MAC10

Did Jerry Rice cheat? Yes or No

Public service post here. Been a few pages since the Mahomes name has been mentioned in this thread!

Just sayin'!

Let me guess - you're a 20-something generation Zer who has never witnessed real football from the 80s or earlier....

Just to educate you, those teams whose quarterbacks you just mentioned were part of some of the greatest defenses in NFL history. No team in the 2000s or later save the 2000 Ravens and 2002 Bucs had defenses that rivaled those teams.

It’s too bad Bill’s defense broke down after Brady and Moss gave the team the lead and handed them the keys to an undefeated season. This was after starting on our own 20 and chewing up 5:12 of game clock.

By the way, this is why nobody believes that you were a Pats fan since birth. Imagine calling yourself a fan and then trying to rub that game in the noses of other fans in an attempt to denigrate Brady.

It would have been less miserable if at the end of Super Bowl 42 the Giants had had a normal consistent and impressive football drive to move down the field and score. At least you can tip your cap to that I guess. But nope, the vaunted Belichick defense put on an avant-garde performance art display to blow the lead in the most bafflingly painful way possible.

I dont think it broke them. I think its more a combo of teams "figuring out" how to play them, cap situation catching up, and not getting hot at the right time.

That said its going to be VERY hard to overcoming an aging Kelce/huge contract kicking in for Mahomes

Not really.

85 Bears and 86 Giants are pretty much the only units mentioned in the top defenses of all time. Honorable mention the 91 Eagles from the Montana era

In the Brady era there's more

(Not counting 00 Ravens)

02 Bucs
05 Bears
06 Ravens
08 Steelers(Brady injured so doesn't count)
09 Jets
13 Seahawks
15 Broncos

That's 6 to 2

Mainly from this article and this was from 2017 no defense since then could really be considered a great one to overtake any of the ones on this list

Bleacher Report List

Just so I'm "informed," you tell me when "real" football stopped? I'm guessing the same season Montana retired?

Just to educate you, those teams whose quarterbacks you just mentioned were part of some of the greatest defenses in NFL history. No team in the 2000s or later save the 2000 Ravens and 2002 Bucs had defenses that rivaled those teams.
Those 80's Raiders teams did not have "one of the greatest defenses in NFL history." Neither did the '87 Redskins. Montana had elite defenses supporting him every season SF won the Super Bowl.

You say "no team" 2000 or later but then you name two. You also left out the '13 & '14 Seattle defenses who were as dominant as it gets.

Who win in a sword fight, Mahomes or Montana?

Is this the same poster that had a pic of Brady getting tackled by the Giants in the 2007 SB as his signature?

I can't tell what the f*** is going on with his agenda. There isn't a "patriots fan" on this planet that has a picture like that as their signature, or anything even remotely related to the Giants team we lost in heartbreaking fashion to.

And now this thread appears to have been ostensibly derailed by someone championing Montana over Brady -- a thread about the Chiefs?

The @mods pick some weird stuff to thread ban and then let stuff like this perpetually stink up the forum. I'm kind of at a loss.

What if somebody plays moneyball and goes cheap on QB . Rookies or game managers for 2-3 million a year . Use the remaining 30 million additional on two dynamic defensive playmakers .

Paying 30 million for QB and then to surround him with talent on offensive line, rb and receivers is too much .

Prolly easier getting pound the rock running backs...
