UFA:
D-Mac
Brown
Hightower
JCJ
Karras
Slater
White
Bolden
Hoyer
Folk
Collins
Bentley

Meyers is an RFA.

Most of that list unfortunately is a go. Wish Brown could stay on the field. JCJ is hopefully a stay.

Who else do you cut?

JC showed again tonight he is not a premier number 1 but a fringe number 1 high end number 2 shouldn’t make more than 14 mill a season.
Brown should be back
Bolden and Bentley that’s it.

$14M is the new $10M

Jackson is a premier corner and will get $20M from either the Patriots or some team next year.

People have absurd expectations for elite CBs…there was even *****ing about Gilmore when he had one of the best seasons ever by a CB because one guy beat him a few times in a big game.

A lot of it depends on price and willingness to take a reduced role in certain cases. And potential alternatives in FA and the trade market.

The only guys I can say for certain that I want back are Brown and Meyers. The rest depend on the above. Bentley can have a role. HT looks like toast. DMac really has slowed down and his fundamentals dropped too (bad angles, not tackling as strong).

oh, Gunner is also an RFA. He didn’t perform as well this season as last either. Curious to see what tender they place on him.

Aside from Mac’s continued development, next year is going to suck but I hope we can at least be a thorn in the side of our rivals.

The real rebuild starts now. I only keep White, Karras, Folk, Meyers, and Brown (only because replacing both tackles would be a lot to aaknfor.

I put the same offer to Hightower, McCourty, Collins, KVN, etc: if you want to be here, it’s going to be for cheap, with a reduced role, and to help groom your replacements.

keep meyers, JCJ , FOlk and karras on discount if possible.

for all other positions get young blood. we would lose but who carez ! at least we get a better draft posiiton and the young guns are better in Year 2. 2023 is the year for mac. 2022 is another retooling season.

Does Godchaux have a big cap hit if he’s cut? Was never a fit here unfortunately

I think it’s something like $5M dead money but $5M in gained cap space.
Yup - overthecap says we have $21.5m in cap space, and if McCourty’s not resigned prior to free agency, his voidable years accelerate to the 2022 cap (like with Brady in 2020) reducing it to $17.3m.

Can open up the following easily if desired:
- cut Godchaux and save $5m
- cut Agholor and save $5m
- cut KVN and save $5m
- cut Guy and save $2.5m
- cut Henry Anderson and save ~$2.676m

Then there‘s the elephant in the room about Wynn — $10.4m charge that’s guaranteed. Is he worth that? Is he worth an extension that would lower that his but create potential problems later?

Here’s OTC’s Patriots site: New England Patriots Salary Cap | Over the Cap

UFA:
D-Mac - 1 year vet min pr bye
Brown - 1 year vet min or bye
Hightower - retire
JCJ - extend
Karras - extend for reasonable money
Slater - retire
White - bring back on vet min or bye
Bolden -bring back on vet min or bye
Hoyer - bring back as coach
Folk - extend
Collins - bye
Bentley - vet min or bye

Meyers is an RFA - extend

We can’t spend the kind of money we have been on D-Mac. A great Patriot but too expensive. Hightower is likely done. Bentley is slow. Slater has to be close to the end. I’d like to resign JCJ and Brown if they don’t want to break the bank.

We really need a great playmaker for Mac. Every contender has 1 or 2, we have 0. We have to be able to compete in a shootout.

yeah at first we have to compete on D# because only the worst teams concede 50 burgers and can't force a single punt in 2 games vs the Bills

yes the O needs improvment as well, but I have to admit, that currently the D worries me more with the lack of talent and speed we have there
and get a real ****ing NT asap

I think Slater and possibly D Mac are going to retire this off-season. Something about their pressers just made me feel like “this person is one slip away from announcing their retirement right now”

it’s hard to gauge Hightower. Does he think he’s cooked and should retire or does he feel like he’s still shaking off rust from the season off?

For what? Getting beat on one pass by a top 5 WR in the nfl? JC wasn’t the problem
