Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Bills beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

I actually think Jones biggest problem right now is the cold. He was really accurate throughout the season, but was way off last night, with many of his throws sailing high. We had a really long and warm fall, and even though it wasn’t really cold by New England standards yesterday it was one of the coldest days he has ever played in. Like many other factors he has to adjust to he will have to adjust to playing in cold and winter playing conditions.

We started the year off recognizing that this was a rebuilding season, many of us with the hope that they could play well enough to make the playoffs and get big game experience, and overall that seems to be what is happening. I didn’t like their performance yesterday but I’m still hopeful that the overall goals for the season will be achieved. I had guessed they would go 11-6 and get a WC berth, and they can still do that if they win their last two. I realize the bandwagoneers are already jumping ship, but that’s to be expected, after all they did the same when Brady was here, so I expect nothing less now that he’s gone.
Adjusting to the cold is a good point. I think it has more to do with how teams are playing him but not accustomed to in playing with cold hands is certainly a challenge.

Lol at the Brady paranoia.
I was simply comparing a QB who the team felt a no pass offense gave them the best chance to win…and as it turns out they were right…with other guys who they obviously felt differently.

The complaints about Mac are mainly coming from you and @amfootball , the two biggest Brady homers on this board....it's not hard to see what your agenda is.

To be honest though using a game with 55 mph winds isn't the best example. It's the only game they have done that.

I do think he is being managed. But I think it's more to teach him the right way to play. Like Brady was in the early years. Not to just be slinging it like Trevor Lawrence and develop bad habits

Josh Allen didn't look too hot that game either.

Meh, he wasn't great in the first half vs Indy either which was indoors...

It was a 26-21 game in the 4th Qtr with plenty of time left.

All the D needed to do was get one stop. One.

Just like the Indy game, Mac showed resiliency and lead us back. And just like the Indy game on a "got to have it" stop the defense folded.

That's not to say Mac has been good. But this piling on him by posters is Abit much. If you have the "best defense in the league" they should be able to get a stop.

Not blame your 23 year old rookie QB who is really just still learning

Every team has stinkers. We had this one after the saints . Hopefully the last one. The colts game was due to a couple of rare mistakes on ST and defense, else we were matching up well with colts.

I believe with injuries everyone was playing out of position and with no HH, Stevenson, agholor, Jonnu our offense is just not a match for bills. Though bills were decimated , they still had diggs and Allen.

Mac is not yet in a phase where he can elevate everyone around him. He is just a complimentary piece and not the main one. I think it would take any rookie QB 2-3 years to get into that stride.

I doubt if Herbert , burrow or a rookie Allen would have been able to do what Mac is asked to do.

As everyone pointed out, we need to play mistake free to get a win .

Hopefully we get healthy and figure out the right way to utilize agholor, Harry and Jonnu . These might be bust players and we will need to live with them for next year . Better to get value while we can and double dip at wr in next draft. Even if we can get a hunter renfrow thats a win. No point wasting dollars on free agent WR.

Maybe we needed this kick to reboot everyone after the 7 game win streak.

Yeah I don't understand the hyper focus on the offense. Mac wasn't perfect but considering the fact Agholor was out and Bourne was clearly not a big part of the game plan after missing the entire week for COVID protocols, he was able to lead the offense to multiple successful drives as the game got late. They found themselves within 1 score, then the defense gave up another score. Then they got within 1 score again, then the defense gave up another score.

That's really what it comes down to... when your defense allows these results (excluding the short get-to-the-locker-room drives end-of-half and end-of-game):
Drive #1: Touchdown
Drive #2: Short field goal (25 yards)
Drive #3: Turnover on downs at the goal line
Drive #4: Touchdown
Drive #5: Short field goal (34 yards)
Drive #6: Touchdown
Drive #7: Touchdown

What in the world is your offense supposed to do with that? 7 drives resulting in 4 touchdowns and 2 short field goals, and the only "stop" coming on a 4th down goal-line stand at the 1 yard line. Literally every drive was allowed into the red zone (except one which was just outside of it) with most of those trips ending in touchdowns. But yeah, it's definitely Mac Jones who's at fault here, he just sucks!

It's absurd. We aren't talking about a 10 year vet who suddenly sucks

Instead we are talking about a player who is 14 games into his career and is still figuring out NFL defenses

Whatever they've been doing it has worked. I didn't envision us at 9-6 in the beginning I felt we were more like a .500 team. Mac has been more than fine this season he's just in a slump which will happen to any QB look at Mahomes the first 8 games this year. Jones is still a rookie after all let's just enjoy this season and whatever happens will happen. I still feel that this team can beat anybody if they play turnover free.

Another excuse the Mac lovers can use to explain why their QB sucked again is the OL… No consistent pocket all game long; in fact it seemed as if he had two rushers in his business for most of the game… And their run-blocking, while better than it was vs Indy, still wasn’t opening consistent holes even on plays when they had a numbers advantage…
And another thing: Isaiah Wynn/Lose ****ing Sucks as a LT.
This is a legit under-the-radar need for next year. I don't think Wynn is the franchise LT. I think part of the offseason puzzle will be figuring out how to use Onwenu, Karras & the rest of the OL to the best possible fit. I wouldn't be mad if they moved T. Brown to LT, put Onwenu back at RT, and figured out whether to put Wynn at LG, Karras at RG, and/or platoon with Mason.

Brown is a FA and I have to imagine is gonna command another large contract

Love this view. Theres still time to improve, alot can change in three weeks. Mid October we looked done. Within a few weeks we were among the afc elite. Then within a few weeks here we are with a bunch of issues again and a lower seed. January is when you wanna be at your best. We’re not through by any means.

Karras is a FA next year.

Mac will certainly get better next season.
He should stick around here strength training and throwing in this cold weather Feb-April to get more used to it.
We need a winning slot WR and either replace Agholor with a big #1, or see if he takes a huge step forward by next camp.
Meyers and Bourne are great pieces that are 2a & 2b type guys. Smith should get more integrated after a whole offseason.
And either White returns at full-strength or we need to sign a new 3rd down guy (Bolden has filled in okay, but not the future)
Harris and Rham should be even better next year as 1 - 2 punchers.

Soft D. I feel like I could have gotten open against the pats D
Refs didn’t help but not making one stop cost them the game
He cant throw the ball and catch the ball.

Not through yet but going forward, every single team is going to force Mac to beat them and if the Defense can't make some complimentary stops, its not going to end well.

We can still win the division too, if Atlanta or the Jete helps us out.
