Bill Belichick appreciation thread

It's absolutely legitimate when the offensive coordinator is the exact same person with potential to do similar damage. Maroney, Chad Jackson, Tim Tebow, NKeal Harry, Sanu. Thinking Izzo and LaCosse are TE starters. Thinking Durant/Herron are starting right tackles.

So glad Kraft saw this and the recent draft was way better bringing in Wolf, Groh, Patricia to manage.
I know you aren't Josh's biggest fan but please tell me you aren't in favor of dumping Bill too. If you are then I'll make a call to McLean Hospital and try get you a reservation.

There's no accounting for idiocy.

Bill clearly sees something in Josh, so there's that.

Bill has had many innovative ideas but one of my favorites is that he coached the team on how to handle the longer SB halftimes. The guy leaves no stone unturned.
He instructed them to take off their pads and dry off as there isn't normally enough time o do so.

I saw an interview where Mike Haynes said they were talented enough to win it all back then, but coaching let them down.
I don't know much Patriot history, but I remember on Monday Night Football, Howard Cosell going on how talented the Pats were with the likes of "All World Russ Francis".
Don't know who the coaching or GM was, but whoever was was buying the groceries seemed to be doing a good job.

Fairbanks. He was excellent

Maybe the dumbest thing Chuck did was the Francis option at Chokeland that was picked off and I think led to the Fraiders' TD in the first half, a heave from Stabler that Biletnikoff pulled in. Cutting Neville in '78 didn't seem right, although then they set the team rushing record that stood for forty years.

Chuck leaving was more devastating than Parcells later.

The guy put us on top in less than four years, with few resources. He's more brilliant than Belichick to me; remember if Coleman is Dreith, and then Troy Brown is lost forever 20 months later, we probably have zero titles today.

I know you aren't Josh's biggest fan

You're a reasonable poster, I'm not going to repeat what I've written earlier in this thread but yes BB is the best and I've said as such. He's the GOAT coach and also the best GM of the past 20 years. This has included spectacular draft periods and also 2 specific terribly bad draft periods with McIdiot here. But it seems to be fixed now wresting war room control over to Wolf, Groh, and Patricia now. The last draft was awesome.

Part of why I care to criticize the staff around BB is I want BB to win another ring; BB retiring is my worst nightmare as a Pats fan especially considering who his replacement might be.

.

Tonight was frankly BB's best coaching I've seen since the Rams superbowl game. To save that cover zero blitz until the very last play was just ****ing genius.

Was that blitz Bill? Or Steve?

I'm sure in that situation Bill is checking on and approving (or overriding) every defensive call.
Agreed. I think that’s a general truth. More than we realize. Question is, did Steve suggest it?

Defensive genius

Bill now has secured his second winning season without the GOAT as Pats coach. Make the playoffs and that will be his first.

I think it was the Harry turnover that had me sour the whole game and could not enjoy it because I feared for the venom that was coming his way if we had lost this game.
Now that I am over it, I think this game showed that BB just beat a good team with no QB. That is what we should take from this game. He could have won this game with me handing it off. Think about it. What was your take?
