Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Falcons

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

The funny thing is I don't think a decent portion of the Buffalo fans and media think the Pats are a real threat. I was listening one of those overnight shows on WEEI or 98.5 the other night and they had a Buffalo beat guys on and they asked him about how people in Buffalo feel about the Pats knocking on the Bills' door for competition for the division and his response was people in Buffalo don't focus on teams behind them in the standings and only focus on their real competition who are ahead of them in the standings. He basically went on to say that the Bills have the division locked and they are just focusing on getting things fixed to do damage in the playoffs. I know this is one guy, but from my limited anecdotal evidence this arrogance is common with Bills fans.

My post in RW's "why not us" thread:

The Bills have only beaten one good team, KC, 5 weeks ago when KC wasn't playing well. Their other wins have been against Miami (x2), WTF, Houston, and The Jests. They just lost to Jacksonville.

They still have 5 losable games on their schedule: Indy, @NO, NE, @Tampa, @NE. Plus the rejuvenated Panthers.

The winner of the AFC East could possibly have a 10-7 record, and depend entirely on deep formula tie breakers (if the Pats and Bills split).
Lots of football still to play.

The thing that hurts is the Dolphins game. I think the Patriots will beat the Bills at least once, and in terms of likely losses, I think the Bucs will beat the Bills. That Dolphins loss gives the Bills the inside track for the division due to tiebreaker.

I know they are on a roll, and I love it, but does anyone else think it's weird that Onwenu is benched? Arguably our best lineman (at least he grades out that way ... acknowledging the problems with the grading). Have they decided Karras is a better guard? Are they just going to have Onwenu replace Trent brown or Wynn at tackle next year? Certainly a nitpick given how well its going, but just curious what people think.

I haven’t looked up their game log yet from 2000 so I don’t know for sure but I think BB just went over .500 without Brady for the first time as Patriots head coach.
off the top of my head, someone correct me if wrong...

5-11 with Bledsoe in 2000
0-2 with Bledsoe in the first two starts in 2001
11-4 with Cassel in 2008 (Brady started the first game loss vs KC)
3-1 with Jimmy/Jacoby in Brady's suspension
7-9 last year with Cam

so 26-27 before this year

7-4 this year

33-31 total

I counted the 2008 Chiefs game which we won as a game without Brady even though he started. Brady played less than half the first quarter.

If you don't count that then that would be 10-5 with Cassel not 11-5.

It's so important to have 2 guys that churn out over 5yd/carry and run with shiftiness and power.
Dam & Rham are very impressive, and something we haven't had here for a while. They can also both catch.
Those guys may be the reason we get as far as we get this season.

Also, while no WR is busting out, the even spread is great to see. All 3 starting WR's are getting involved and producing.

Mac had some protection errors again, and it wasn't his best, but he did what he needed to. On this short week, after their biggest win of the year, it would have been easy for him to have a letdown. But this D-driven win is exactly what good teams do.

Next week will be UUUUGE

Ugly night for both offenses. Defenses showed up. Pats D came out on top.
Finally the Pats catch a break getting a mini bye before the Titans game. Did they have 2 or 3 teams off their byes this season? Revenge game for Bill against Vrabel. Vrabel schooled Bill last couple match ups. Even used that clock killing trick that made Bill's head explode. Gonna be a tough game that they need to win. I don't think they have a shot in Buffalo on Monday night so they better take care of business at home. 11 wins for the playoffs. Can you find 4 more wins?

It probably won’t be deep tie breaker because we lost to the dolphins and Bills like likely sweep the Jets.

If the Bucs beat the Bills and the Pats lose 1 game to Buffalo the rest of the way, the division is ours. A Tennessee loss would be bad.

But this statement performances will make TEN/BUF/IND thinking and esp their QBs thinking (and they know Bill has all their numbers) - which only helps..

I agree that the other contenders now realize that the Patriots are going to right in the middle of the playoff picture, and they are so sound fundamentally, and so physical that they are going to be a really tough out.

I think we likely lose @BUF (there's always a chance)
I think we have a good chance vsTEN & @IND & vsBUF
I think we should easily win vsJAX & @Mia
So, I'm optimistic about 11-6

They’d have the same amount of losses (5). The head to head is a wash, so it goes to divisional record. Patriots have a loss to Dolphins.

The Jets and fish will be irrelevant, the Patriots have conference tiebreakers in their advantage right now as they are 6-1 in the AFC. There could be possible head to head tiebreakers with Tennessee and Indy, as well as possible divisional tiebreaker with Buffalo, where the Miami loss could factor in if they split with the Bill’s.

This is accurate.

This game was a bit flat in the passing game, but with 10 days rest/practice I think we come out firing against Titans.
Siemian just threw for 300yds and 2TDs against them, without Kamara.
So, while I'll be very nervous about this game, it's not like the Titans are... well, the 07 Patriots.
We almost beat DAL before we got clicking, so I think this will be a close one, down to the wire.
I'm more worried about the media and (some young) team getting over hyped before the final stretch if we do win.

People, it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the F. too early to play the "assume everyone wins out" game. I mean, Buffalo recently lost to Jacksonville, so I am not even remotely ready to assume they - or we - finish 13-4/12-5. Lot of football left and every game is a challenge.
