Knowing that they have an extra $1.5M available next season (unless he retires or something), it would be easy enough to restructure a player or two to push $1.5M of cap hits from 2021 to 2022 if they so choose.
But the only real money left to push forward with are DMac & Hightower. I don't think it's in the team's best interest to extend either of those two.

Where's your appreciation?

We helped your boy get a job by beating the crap out of Darnold last week and traumatizing him.
My boy?

Unfortunately? I’m happier they got to play Darnold, he might be the worst non-rookie starting QB in the NFL right now. Competing with the likes of Jared Goff, etc.
He also worse than at least these rookies: Lawrence, Mac, Fields and probably Lance if he played more.

Darnold is just bad. Watching him play sunday, it was not as if the pats were just killing him. He has no idea how to read defenses, he has no idea how to change things pre snap, he does not know what letting a receiver clear means. He throws at receivers, not to spots. He is just not getting it.

Why are you quoting me?
But everything you said, I agree 100%

Just perused a Carolina board and their fan base is super excited with the news. Good for them I guess.

(As much as they have fans. I've lived in South Carolina for 8 years and have never seen a Panthers fan before)

We should call this the Darnold Effect, a strange phenomena where a late period washed up Cam Newton generates excitement.

Oh well, at least they'll get a lot of examples of his great hat and scarf game, if nothing else.

Man, things must have hit an all time low if this is good news

Will he throw more than 5 touchdowns?
