Per Schefter - Odell Beckam WILL be released by Cleveland

Wonder if Chicago is interested, young QB could use some help in terms of getting talent around him. Coaching is also playing for their jobs and need all the wins they can get.

I think we would be crazy not to look at him. I wont search for cap implications, but Id love him here.

First of all, he respects the **** out BB. And committing here, regardless of the outcome, would prove that he is not against discipline, but want be better used. Simply put, Id be willing to bet he would behave here

Then, we have first chance on a pretty good WR (Who I think might have enough to become REALLY good still) after we get rid of Agholor next year, or at the very least, another option between these 2 guys

Third, we have a young buck at QB. Surrounding him with talent is a very good thing, it would make it a bigger safety net.

That being said, he will be claimed by somebody before us.

If Odell passes waivers, he is not coming to play with a rookie QB in frigid NE. I think he goes some place warm that is a contender or to a dome team. I have to think the Saints will be the front runner.
Is NO a contender with the recent loss of their QB?

I thought that he wasn't expected to be claimed due to his contract. We'll see, I guess.

I wouldn't think we would have room to actually claim him. Would need him to clear (my assumption, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Just trying to think of why Cleveland would be going through all this effort and taking the cap hit. Only thing I can think of is that they’re really concerned he’ll sign with a contender, look great, and knock them out of the playoffs. That they want to make it enticing for a team like Atlanta (mentioned earlier) to pick him up, which wouldn’t impact Cleveland’s playoff outlook. That’s all I can really think of.

From OBJ’s perspective, he accepts this deal if he thinks there’s a reasonable chance he would get less money on the open market at this point, so is willing to take the cash now in exchange for potentially not having a say on his actual destination.

There needs to be a "Hey Odell, this is Bill Belichick" call when when/if he clears waivers. Maybe adding him doesn't help SB chances of the Pats in 2021 but it could help playoff chances which once you are in who knows and if not you still a half season you can see if he fits with Mac and the offense and maybe bring him back with a new deal.

I dont know the process here but can a player refuse to go to a team who has put in a claim ??

If the earlier tweet is true that his salary is being converted to signing bonus to reduce the salary cap hit to the new team down to one Million bucks, lots of teams, including NE, could afford to claim him and not wait to clear waivers.

CLE might prefer that, so that he doesn't get to Baltimore, for example.

I think that has happened, and the claiming team could hold him to the contract, but most likely they would release him once again and he'd go back into waivers.

What was the purpose of the re-worked contract? Wouldn't Beckham prefer to clear waivers and choose his own team?

You site a QB play as why he wouldn't go to NE yet think he's gonna go to NO when they have Trevor Siemian as the QB?

When would he clear waivers by?

Indy would actually be a decent fit for OBJ, though they like to pose as an angelic franchise who avoids divas.

When would he clear waivers by?
goes on the wire at 4PM today, I presume, and claims will be finalized by 4PM tomorrow, so no claims and he's a FA at 4PM on Saturday.

Cleveland being petty and probably trying to narrow it down to a team that can't effect their playoff chances. I'm sure they wouldn't want to have a Beckham Revenge game this season.

NE would be 1 of the teams they are looking to avoid him going to since they play next week.

Because of his salary, I doubt anyone will put a claim in on him, but who knows...here is the order:

He would, but CLE wants 20 teams to have a shot at him BEFORE the Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens:

bottom of the waiver list:

21. PIT
22. CIN

23. NO
24. TB
25. BUF
26. LVR
27. DAL
28. GB
29. BAL
30. LAR
31. TEN
32. AZ
