Immediate Postgame Reactions
I just need to say that I’m disgusted by this teams ball protection. I took for granted the Brady years of so little turnovers and mental mistakes. Watching these players mishandle The ball, the drops, tips
For interceptions is just gross football

Mills did a very good job today. I give him the credit.
Gave our D a harder time than Brady.
For real.

No book on Mills yet

Did Collinsworth say this was Mills 14th start, in his life?
Remarkable.

Did Colinsworth call this game?

Last years team sack leader was Chase Winovich with 5.5. Keep in mind, he had 3.5 sacks going into week 17 against the Jets.

Judon has 6.5 sacks after 5 weeks and is on pace for 22 sacks. The guy was this years biggest bargain.

Have watched the fumble at the goal line over and over on video. It was absolutely the correct call. The defender's feet were inside the edge of the end zone but he was leaning forward so that the upper half of his body was in front of the end zone line. He punched the ball out before the tip of the ball reached the front of the end zone line. Great play by the defender, but harris needs to hold the ball tighter.

That's probably true but I've got to believe Mills had the best game of any rookie this season. These are not typical rookie stats.

That's true.

But then you see on the tape it was a fluke 67 yard TD where jc and McCourty misplayed it then a 39 yard TD bomb over slowjuan on a trick play.

Kudos to the kid as I thought he was promising at Stanford predraft. And doing this against the Pats is no joke especially when BB has a reputation against rookie QBs. He played much better than Zach Wilson did.

We have the same record as the Chiefs.

They got smoked by the Bills. The Bills are averaging 35 points per game. Bills Offense looks excellent, Brian Daboll doing a fantastic job as their offensive coordinator.

No, My bad.
Games are running together.

Decided to look it up
Davis Mills 'played in' 14 games in his 3y college career.
1 in 2018, 8 in 2019, 5 in 2020
Wiki is unclear how many were starts:

Mills redshirted his freshman year at Stanford in 2017.[8] In 2018, he appeared in one game as a backup to K. J. Costello.
He entered 2019 as a backup to Costello, but started six of eight games after Costello was injured. Against Washington State,
he set a school record with 504 passing yards.[9] He finished the 2019 season completing 158 of 241 passes for 1,960 yards,
11 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Mills played in five games during Stanford's pandemic-shortened 2020 season,
completing 129 of 195 passes for 1,508 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

Another interesting fact. Mac has as many TD passes through 5 games as Cam had through 14 games last year. Offense scored more through for the 2020 Pats through 5 games last year, 109-96, 13 more points, but gave up 18 more points 110-92. I assume the offense scored more last year at this time due to a better running game. Both teams had a 2-3 record. Pats lost 2 more to go 2-5, but went 4-1 in their next 5 to be 6-6 through 12 games. Then lost 3 straight, and it wasn’t even close, outscored 84-24. Then closed it out with a 28-14 win over the Jets, Cam threw three of his 8 total TD passes in that game.

Shows how trash our defense was today

The defense improved a lot in the 2nd half.

In prior weeks, the D played well during the middle stretch of the game but couldn't close it out. Yesterday, they gave up a chunk of points during that middle stretch, but locked down for final 15-20 minutes of the game and played a pivotal role in winning the game; they improved as the game went on. I came away from that game largely happy with the defense.

The secondary had an off-day and if we look at the big plays/scoring plays, they were almost all on the secondary. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see how they look against Dallas. Other than that I was pretty happy with that side of the ball; the LBs look OK, Hightower looked like he was moving better (probably his best game of the season), Judon is still a beast. The defensive line wasn't spectacular but they were solid, especially against the run. Godchaux has gone from really bad to a serviceable run defender, and Lawrence Guy has gone from mediocre to very good. Those two players alone have gone a long way towards improving the run since the first couple weeks of the season.

Harris was in the process of getting his free hand over to cover the ball, but was just a split second late, and the defender punched through the gap before Harris' hand got there to cover the ball. Bummer. Like you said - very good play by the defender and Harris has to be better there.

The Pats have been punching at their fair share of footballs and haven't got one free yet. On that note, have the Pats even forced/recovered a fumble this season? They're due for a little luck in the turnover department.

Agree on taylor, if BB wanted to keep sony he would have found a way to do it. I thought is a bad move because harris has spent a lot of time on the injured list
It only makes sense as a move if we have faith in JJ and Rham and play them. It makes no sense to release Michel and then have to play Bolden. in fact thats an insane move in those circumstances

I think Mac played well today but in trying to press and make something happen did he make some really bad throws?! Yes he did . But this is a rookie that has looked very mature, poised and efficient this season…..I am very high on Mac Jones going forward
Agreed, the issue is we are putting a rookie qb in the position of having to be aggressive to try and win the game.

I can't belive we spent so much money and were so aggressive in FA and yet we have so many needs on this team that i think we would need to do the same thing again next year just to be competitive

He played good but I think the line between good and not so good is very thin right now.

3 picks against the saints. 4/8 the last two drives against the Bucs. A pass the should have been picked by White and another floater to Agholor on the sideline which is a pick 6 if a real corner is on the field.

Yesterday, he had 7 incompletions, half of them should have been picked. 1 was and at least 2 other were dropped. The INT to Agholor was a really bad throw.

i will personally wait until after the season to evaluate Mac overall body of work and assess if he can be the guy or not. I like what I see for now but I think he is also lucky not to have 10 INTs on his stat sheet.
