Let’s take a break from Tom vs Bill and debate ranking the teams the last 20 years.

2015 team should be ranked higher.

2012 team was way better than 2011 team.

2014 team over 2003 team is a joke.

I don’t believe a team that didn’t win the SB can ever be ranked above one that did, or one that didn’t make the SB can be ranked above one the did.
My reason is very simple, the goal of every team is to get to, and win the SB, and IMO “better” is a judgment based upon achievement rather than opinion.

They got #1 right. 2007 is an easy #1 even if they lost the last game.

Not only 16-0 but that schedule was very hard and they handled it with ease.

I wouldn’t say 2008 was a “masterful coaching job”… that was still a really good roster but they didn’t make the playoffs and couldn’t hang with good teams

2020 was a lot closer to that label imo. That was a bad football team that somehow won 7 games and could have won more.

2001 is too high and 2015 is too low. Injuries absolutely devastated the 2015 team or they would have gone all the way imo.

2007 is overrated IMO, they were insanely dominant... for half a season or so, and then looked like a normal 2000s Patriots team. They were steadily weaker as the year went on and their reputation is built on the shock and awe of early blowouts.

2015 before the injury waves hit was ELITE. 2016 was worse on paper but ran like a well oiled machine all year. 2014 beat the Seahawks team that killed Peyton Manning and his "greatest offense in league history" the year before so has to rank highly.

We beat contender after contender (Eagles, Ravens, Indy, Pitt) or teams with serious expectations (Cinci, Dallas, SD) that year.

Man what a ride that was. Hurts to the touch but man we rode the lightening that season.

We beat the Bills 94 - 17 & Fins 77 - 35. Didn't score below 34 for the first 7-8 weeks I believe.

Including two teams on the road that were undefeated - Cowboys were 5-0 and Pats crushed them by 21 and the Colts were 7-0 when the Pats beat them in Indy.

We thought stopping the chiefs undefeated run in 2018 was impressive? That was in Foxboro. Those were on the road!

We dominated 11 weeks of that season. Also weather played a factor in a few of those games in the second half. Tough to do what we did for 16 straight weeks.

Those games had so much hype going in them. Moss vs TO. Brady vs Manning. Eagles, NYG and Ravens (Thanks Rex) were great games as well. I had so much fun that year.

The 3 championships afterwards have lessened the sting of that loss but man, it still hurts nontheless. Could of played doophie manning 10 times and won that game 9 of them. Just baffles me that the adjustments just weren’t there.

It was a ok to good defense for the Pats that year, just not nearly as great as that offense. But they did their job that night and held them to 17 points despite the Plaxico late td. Not even gonna get into the catch that shouldnt of been. However God did pay us back in full with Butlers interception and Edelmans miracle catch of his own.

2004, 2003 teams were the best. Absolute dominance. A machine.

2010-2012 were extremely innovative, the foundation for later rings. 2014 and 2016 felt a bit lucky with Butler and the comeback.

2007 can't be too high, there are about 5 Pats teams I would wager to beat that team.

2015 team was so good, it all went downhill starting with the Dion Lewis injury. They still almost made it to the Super Bowl.

I also put 2003 in my top three. Pats defense was so dominant.

Lewis getting injured was something they could overcome, but the massive OL injuries it what killed that team.

That list is weird…seems to go in Super Bowl/non-Super Bowl pecking order but then puts 2007 first.
