Logically, the texts further suggested innocence. References were made to them keeping the balls within regulation, even apparently in June/July, even though they could do whatever the hell they wanted outside of games. But clearly they were keeping it in the permissible range because they knew they‘d have to work within those parameters.
Another reference, from a Jets game, said the refs pumped them up to 13 psi, which isn’t even permissible, but it further shows they were at the mercy of the refs after submitting them.
My guess is this was just a casual, laughing type of matter where refs rarely gave a crap as they joked around with ball boys with their $4 ****’s Sporting Goods pump. Then it became very serious business one night when the whiniest b1tches of all-time decided to whine and b1tch as usual.
