Belichick still greatest of all time coach?

Greatest defensive coach of all time. Offensively his is lacking but what else can you expect from a guy who came up in the league on the defensive side. What made BB and Tom dynamic was one was a great offensive mind and the other was a great defensive mind.

Our offense will continue to stink. BB can't possibly think surrounding qb's with JAG wide receivers is a good idea. That may work with Brady but not with lesser qb's.

He's still the greatest coach of all time.

He's fast tarnishing his GM reputation late in his career though.
The GM thing, is well, when you win, its fine, but when you stop winning, it shows its warts. Mistakes in the past could be comered up by good play, that is going to be hard to do for awhile.

Maybe it was. I am not sure why people cannot understand that young QB's with no experience get sacked a lot. I dont care what oline you have. Vet Qb's do a lot of things before the snap for protection, its not just the oline. A QB is as much responsible for that.
Im sorry , but the o-line stunk.

Nothing to be sorry about, it has not played well, and sometimes an experienced Qb can cover that up. A 3 game rookie is not going to.

BB should bring in an offensive master scout to help him

I always though we needed an offensive minded guy here with Bill. Defensive head coaches always care more about the defense than the offense. In games when you see Bill huddle up guys on the sideline, did you ever see him do that with the offense?

He was the coach here through superbowls, top 5 offenses, etc. So what is different?
Really? You don't know the difference. Okay, BB has coached for like 47 years or something and has been the HC of the greatest NFL dynasty ever. There is more I could say but I'm sure you know the difference anyway and I don't want to waste my time.

You would do much better to emulate Richard Pryor's example vs. the other way around.
I tried but all it got me was getting my hair caught on fire.

In the Wickersham book leaks thread I created there is a nugget in there why Butler was benched which might be close to the truth. It was a confrontation with Patricia.

Not an acceptable reason.

Are you saying that’s not a fair assessment? Even if a team had losing seasons for 3 seasons in a row, is there any chance you’ll say “but the GM is great”

Wins are a fair to judge GMs no?

Question for you fools:

Who is GREATER than Belichick?

No. You judge him pertaining to what he actually does. FA, Draft - type of players brought in. Cap. Consistently adding youth. Trades.

How many times have we seen talented teams fail? Or less talented teams overachieve? Preparation, chemistry, scheme etc have nothing to do him.

You can buy all the best ingredients and have a ****ty cook ruin your meal.

My confidence in Belichek is really shaken. I was on BB's side in the divorce and was willing to look past last year. So far this year really speaks to bad coaching. I don't think its roster talent or lack thereof. My understanding is that BB has been more delegatory lately ( good thing for the draft) but it doesn't look like his staff is up to the task.

I have real concerns with our o line coaching and defensive coaching. There seems to be a lack of on field leadership too.
mine is not. I believe there is no one who will work harder trying to get things moving in a positive direction

Everyone in NFL works hard man. It's a necessary but insufficient precondition. All other coaches work hard too. BB is not outworking them. He's just a better coach.

Same with the issues at GM. It's not that BB needs to work harder than other GMs to be better. He needs to set his ego aside, which might be too much an ask at this stage of his career (just as it was for Brady who wanted to be treated differently at the late stage of his career).

What can I say Biffins? My faith in Belichicks ability to field a competitive team is not shaken.

I have not fallen into the trap of thinking that the changes being made in New England can be ironed out in just a few months. Last year we just tread water. This is the first year of the rebuild. This is the start of the process now that legitimate talent has been added to the roster.

And get over the Brady stuff, will you? He was here for 20 years and worked very closely will bill on a day in day out basis... all all of a sudden it was a "shock" that Belichick was unbending? WTF?????? Its completely unfair to say that it was all "Bills ego" that caused the split, when you damn well know Brady has a big ego as well... Its bs to hold one man accountable and the other blameless as wayyyy too many people have done.
