Hoyer shouldn't be in discussion for week 1 starter unless something has gone horribly wrong, but he's not total dog crap either. We all just remember those Very Bad Plays.
I'm not sure I can agree. One of the biggest reasons for the Patriots past success is making an opposing offense to continuously string together long drives (multiple plays) through moving the ball well, but make the attainment of actual points (those things that are required to rack up the win) difficult. In that light, it's those key plays that truly define the QB, not the ability to function when there's much less pressure and expectation. That's where the measurement of a QB should be - in the point producing moments - and there...sorry to disagree, but Hoyer is indeed canine excrement.

There is a lot of precedent to back that up too besides just the KC game that he can manage a game between the 30 yard lines, but when it matters...uhhhh, not so much.

Is that "here" anywhere close to Hiroshima? I was stationed at MCAS Iwakuni, about 40 clicks south down the coast...
Hari kari is an act versus a place...Americanized it was a (usually drunk) baseball announcer (Harry Caray) that also did a little karaoke in the 7th inning

Good read.
I like Mac’s confidence for publicly admitting his struggle‘s to adjusting to NFL level offenses. I think to fix a problem, one has to admit, seek help and do everything required to improve.

he already has NFL passing skills already which is important since they don't have to work on that portion of his game as much. and he's a smart kid by all accounts, so I think the offense will come to him in time.

the intelligence imo is most important for a QB. alot of guys have skill but cant diagnose a defense to save their lives and just get by on pure athleticism. those are the guys i get nervous about. or who have a short shelf life

Certainly he's not good, I'm just positing that he's not worthless. If you could get him to at least not commit those awful mistakes in the red zone, even if you stall out, you'll hopefully get 3 points for your troubles and you've gotta lean on your defense. Being able to move it between the 30s is still something, though it's a bit of a low bar to clear. Hence why he shouldn't be the starter unless something goes very wrong,

If they didnt like Mac at ota's they probably hated young Brady at ota's .I know when Drew got injured they couldnt wait for him to come back to get the ball down the field

There’s no substitute for practice, and there’s no substitute for playing in games.

Hoyer is a backup QB who’s been good enough at it long enough to now be competing to make a NFL roster for a 13th season. He was set up to fail in that KC game having likely not practiced all week with the 1st string and having not played in a game since 2019. His game readiness, or lack of it, was what caused his confusion at the end of the 1st half. No one has ever accused Brian Hoyer of being a dummy. He was just trying to make a play to score a needed TD. Heck, TFB forgot he had no timeouts left last season too.

Hey, you never know when a fair catch kick might be needed (*cough* should have tried it in SB 51 *cough*)....

Ghost missed an extra point and very nearly missed a field goal in that game already so lmao at sending him out there to kick from over 70 yards away.

It’s a free kick very similar to a kickoff (with a holder instead of a tee), not a placekick. He was nailing his kickoffs that day.

I like reading that Mac is consistently dumping the ball off. Taking the easy yards is what made our offense under Brady special. We already know Mac can push the ball down the field as seen with the bama 1st rnd wrs.

I think Mac is taking the same approach he did at Bama. Take what the defense gives you, protect the ball and only start to push things downfield when you have the familiarity you need in the offense to do it effectively. He didn't throw picks in practice either from what I've heard

Checking down, in general, is fine. But the "why" of it is important. If he's checking down because players are all covered, it's the right thing to do. But, if he's checking down because things are still moving too fast for him, and he's missing reads and/or open receivers, as the media seems to be telling us, that's a sign that his brain is not yet up to speed.

And, that's not fine, though it's not something people should be surprised or panicking about in the middle of June, either.

Florio. Lol. Love is getting ALL the reps last I read to get him as ready as possible to be the starter week 1. He is not being coddled.
You clearly don't understand the part where it was stated that LaFleur was giving him "the easiest defenses" to go against. Having a ton of reps doesn't mean jack if your throwing without even simulated pressure.,

Sorry not sorry that honest non-homerism triggers you so.

There is a difference between "honest non-homerism" and spewing your biased ridiculous opinions that have zero basis in reality. You're the guy who has bashed 95% of Belichick's moves despite his taking this team to 8 SB appearances (more than any other coach in league history).

There is NOTHING honest about your bashing. It's done to boost your own ego and nothing more.

in some of the german speaking areas in europe you use it to describe some

haphazard action or not well thought through idea, often including a good portion of risk that it will go against your favour (like playing Harry and expecting him to get open  :haha: )
Harry was leading the team with a 3.7 yard cushion in terms of getting open. Maybe you should stop the BS rhetoric and deal with reality. Or is that asking too much of you?

From what I have been reading, it sounds like he was missing things, but the defense was also throwing some different looks his way - not “exotic” necessarily but certainly not vanilla stuff. So to me it seems sort of encouraging in a way, if they’re trying to test him this early.
