Pats LBs on SI cover

Good article too, gives you some insight into the team and the relationship between the vets and Belichick. I liked this anecdote:

Belichick is a member of the 'backerhood, too. Last spring he took Colvin into the bubble behind Gillette and held a tackling dummy while the linebacker worked on pass rush moves. Colvin got better; Belichick got a nasty set of bruised ribs, which he could neither hide nor live down. "He's always making fun of us if we have a little nick," says Colvin. "So we've been on him ever since then. 'How are those ribs, Coach?' " Then they have a laugh at the man in the famous gray hoodie.

Now I think everyone has always known that Vrabel straddles the line between being a smart ass and just an assh*le:

"Vrabes would talk to me about giving me strokes on the golf course and how, when I left the hospital, I had my stroke walk really down," says Bruschi. "And at the time he was negotiating a new contract, so I'm giving him a hard time about that. Health and finances -- those are two things that are usually off-limits."

Says Vrabel, "It started going in a direction where it wasn't funny anymore. We were always trying to see who could have the upper hand, and it was reaching a point where two knuckleheads were just going to end up fighting each other. So we stopped."

Geez Mike, ya think maybe the stroke jokes were crossing the line a little!

Anyway everyone should read the article too.

I wonder when they posed for that picture and if it was before the game, did they take one of some Colts also to use in case they won??

Looks like it's taken at a prior game, most likely at Gillette Stadium.

Interesting about the Seau contract. We always hear about how tough the Pats are in negotiation, but then there are stories about Seau, Yates, and others where they do more than necessary.

You know, this week's Sports Illustrated is going to make bye week go a little quicker for me.

Along those lines, after the whole thing with Shula today etc. it dawns on me. The old saying "Living well is the best revenge". Look at that cover. Look at those faces. Think of that. Then picture Shula desperately whining to Gary Meyers the day after the Patriots cleared their toughest hurdle.

Suddenly Shula doesn't upset me one bit. In fact, I just pity him.

Is the article online?

Man, for a second there I was hoping that image was taken at the center of the field at the RCA dome, but it looks like Gillette upon further analysis.

Is anyone going to comment on Tedy's quote?

He seems pretty certain the Patriots are winning the Super Bowl this year?

That article was so Cool. These guys are AWESOME.

Which one ?

"But in the other championship years [2001, '03, '04] we were younger guys. Now we have so many more years under our belt. We appreciate everything that's going on. The wins, the jokes, the people, everything."

Definitely sounds like a Freudian slip there.

Yep, that one.

That article must've been written around the Cowboys game, which explains why Jason Garrett is supplying the majority of the quotes. But the author, Tim Layden, was the same reporter who somehow heard AD call Ray Lewis and the rest of the Ravens' defense, "selfish". On Sirius NFL Radio, AD said he told Lewis after that whole brouhaha that he would never speak to Tim Layden again.
