Patriots working on a contract with Jimmy G?

The injuries he had in SF were a torn ACL and a high ankle sprain, both common injuries for NFL players.. does that make him injury prone???

JG's injury history tends to be overstated..

With that being said, still don't think the Pats should overspend their draft capital on him..
He has had all ligament injuries going back to his shoulder with us. I think that is concern. Also, he seems unable to play through injuries which is probably a bigger concern. I still want him over Cam though.

Jimmy is in town for a physical.

Are you suggesting that a player who is prone to injuries being described as injury prone is a sports talk radio hot take?

He's played 34 games in 4 years, including post season since joining San Francisco. He's been literally unavailable through injury half the time he's been there. If that doesn't make him injury prone, what does?

Well, first off your "4 years" is actually 2018/9/20. Math seems to indicate that's "3" years.

18- ACL tear. Didn't Brady once tear his ACL?
19- no problem
20- ankle with zero understanding the medical strategy.

Your "4" year is 2017.....he was traded mid year sat out some weeks and then won all the final games for a like 2-10 team.

Do you see what you did here?

You had to make "facts" up to support your views. That's a classic sign of stupid people.

BTW, what do Big Ben, Brees, Manning, Rodgers, Watson all have in common? They got hurt at points of their career.

So what happens when Q4 or Q5 goes down week after week?

He missed two games with the Pats with a sprained shoulder on his non-throwing shoulder. An injury that there is no doubt Brady would have played with. He has missed games in three of the four years he has started in this league. His injury history isn’t overstated.

if this is the case, i would tell Lynch to go screw himself. jimmy is not that good...

Yep it's not about getting injuries, but playing through them.

If you can't grind it out through the pain then you lack the toughness to be a starter.

Brady almost had his thumb ripped off his throwing hand like 3 days before game day. He played. Jimmy would have been put on IR. Toughness, or lack thereof, is what Jimmy lacks.

Yeah, Brady has played with worse than the shoulder injury Garoppolo had when he was filling in for Brady during his suspension. Probably most starting QBs have. If you can’t count on a QB to play every game week in and week out, then he cannot be your franchise QB. That is why the 49ers are giving up on the guy and they haven’t hid that fact.

I wonder what San Fran thinks is "overwhelming"..I wouldn't give a number 1 up for him, that's for sure, debating on whether I would give up a 2nd for him...if San Fran is expecting more, I would agree that this is too much.

The only way I give up a Second is if Bill believes none of the rookies can get close to his level in 2 years.
If Bill believes that a second next year may be worth it.
Similar to the Darnold trade all things considered would of rather had Darnold but I know Jimmy knows the system and Bill loved him and I fully believe Bill wanted to keep Jimmy and trade Tom
This was Bills guy.
Davis Mills is the closest thing In this draft to Jimmy G so it would be very interesting if we drafted Mills.

They are posturing after getting but assaulted by the Dolphins they need to have a win in a trade.
They know the fan base will go nuts when they select Mac Jones.

Pretty sure it was his throwing shoulder

Either way, Brady would have played and probably has with a sprain on his throwing shoulder. Garoppolo was a game time scratch against Buffalo. No chance Brady would have or even most of the top QBs in the league.

Out of 57 possible starts in the regular season he has only made 32 because of injury. He is absolutely injury prone..

My guess is that biggest stumbling block is getting Jimmy to agree to a contract at less than half of his current contract.
If San Francisco realizes nobody wants him at that price and with trade compensation, the only other alternative is to cut him outright, at which point his contract is null and void.

Dale Arnold said that the Pats and Garoppolo were negotiating a new deal. So Howe is disputing that claim.

But the Pats can't trade for Garoppolo without a new deal. They don't have the cap space for his current contract. The Pats cannot get a deal done with the 49ers without Jimmy G redoing his deal.
You could play the semantics game and say that NE is talking to SF about a trade that necessitates a new deal and then SF is talking to Jimmy about a rework with the framework NE wants. Technically NE “isn’t talking to Jimmy” but the end result is the same.

posturing. Trying to drum up interest on a player that’s injury prone that no team wants to pay 25m.

Only 2 teams have cap space as of right now Denver ( just traded for Bridgewater) and the Jets ( who are reportedly going to draft Wilson) there is no market as of right now.

SF can take on some of the money as what was done with Bridgewater, however I see that as a unlikely option as that would mean the Pats would have to add a extra asset.

I dont know that....but I agree it seems that Jimmy isn't able to perform well when dealing with injury...but, I cant say other qbs would have played...hard to really know.

Jimmy G is not happening. They are drafting Fields.

How do we know?

At 12:15 AM this morning, I went outside and gazed the southern sky.

A falling star proclaimed it's birth.

All the arguments that Jimmy is injury prone and thus not worth getting, the same people should also be saying Isiah Wynn has missed 70% of his NFL games which is unacceptable at the crucial left tackle position, Wynn needs to be replaced.
