This is an interesting mock, as it projects three trades for the Patriots.
  • NE trades #15, #116, and a 2022 fourth-rounder to SF for #12
  • NE trades Stephon Gilmore to CLE for #89 and a fourth-round pick in 2022
  • NE trades #46 and #89 to KC for #31
NE takes Devonta Smith at 12 and Mac Jones at 31.

I voted for meh, wasn't sure if win or meh, cause i am not sure if i like the trade up for smith, but gilmore for a third and fourth to get picks to trade up for good value at 31 like Jones I like this idea. Just don't think he will be available there, but 46 und 89 to get Jones is solid. I don't think we will get more than a bridge qb in FA so taking a shot at a potential future franchise qb with a second and third is solid value.

It’s a meh. I’d like a trade up, and I love Smith’s potential in this league, but I’d rather trade up higher for either Wilson or Lance, who I’m now in on after having had the chance to review the All-22. I guess I’d be okay with this scenario, but it isn’t realistic. Jones will be long gone by 31. I have my doubts he will even make it to 15.

Smith was incredible in college, but can a 165 pound receiver survive in the nfl?

I would be ecstatic to get Jones at 31.

Stephon Diggs was very slight of frame while still at Maryland. He also had some injury issues in college. He got bigger but not in a hurry. He now is very good and not considered injury prone.
On the other hand, Hollywood Brown was also a little light and has NOT gotten any bigger or better. Diggs was much more polished as a WR coming out as well.
That said, I think Smith has the frame to get bigger and will do so. He'll be closer to Diggs than Brown, production-wise. Also, the WR's get a lot more protection against huge hits and that helps keep them healthier. Only time will tell but if he stays at 165 he won't have a very long career.

Alabama has one of the best strength and conditioning programs in college and they have not added any weight to smith.

if he is maxed out on size, he could spend a lot of time in the trainers room.

There's no way Mac Jones gets all the way to 31. I don't hate adding Devonta Smith + Mac Jones... I just don't feel that would ever happen in real life.

There is no way I would trade Gilmore for 3rd and a 4th next year. Extend him and re-sign Jackson, they have the cap room.
