Patriots have spoken to every team about QBs

The Belichickian solution is to bring in Jacoby Brissett for 12-15M and use the extra money to pick up a professional blocking TE and build up our front 7 defensively. Abandon the high powered offensive style we don't have the personnel for anyway. Build our offense around the run with Harris, Michel and White. Focus on controlling time of possession and clock management to minimize opponent's ability to possess the ball and use the run to set up opportunities for the limited passing game.
I like this approach actually. I don't care about style points, just win games and compete

It sucks being in this position but is anyone actually surprised they’re calling around looking to deal for a qb?

they SHOULD be calling everyone, especially this year.......they need to fully understand the market and who is available......don't get why this is a surprise lol

I think Brissett is the only young QB that wouldn't take 10-12 games (with a losing record) to figure out the offense. I wouldn't want to pay more than $10M though.

Ugh.

Imagine the reaction here if that is in fact a real trade. LOL

Although...Gilmore would be a rental so I don't think we can ask for the moon for him.

I'm just glad that Belichick reached out to Andy Reid to inquire about trading for Mahomes.

Hey, if I'm a coach/GM, I'm making phone calls like that every year, just in case you catch someone on a real weird day. Only has to work once to make it worth it!

"I'll trade you a 6th round pick (where we picked the GOAT) for that bum who only scored 9 points in the Super Bowl. Sound good?"

It would be almost $27M in dead money to cut him this offseason, in large part due to his $10M guaranteed salary. Are they that desperate to avoid guaranteeing the other $4.4M of his 2021 salary and $1.6M of his 2022 roster bonus to take that entire hit on now?
That's a brutal cap hit.

This is more believable than not. They'll have a tough time re-signing their own FAs.
The foundation will hopefully be built this year and it will have to be done through the draft. All the more reason to hit this one out of the park.

If Bill can't do it then get someone here who can.

Actually I hope Bill focuses on going after defensive studs (LB, DT, DE). He can draft a WR/TE.

He can then keep growing the QB clone he formed from a hair follicle he accidentally found in one of the lockers.

not a big PFF fan

just because you SAY you have great analytics, doesn't mean you do

madden rankings are about as reliable

Can't see entire article (pay wall) but found this interesting:

That PFF list is bad in the first place, but it's also an entirely worthless exercise. There's no value in projecting the Raiders to sign two $14M per year defensive backs if you don't tell us how they're clearing $19M to get under the cap in the first place and then the additional $15-20M in first year cap hits for those two players.

Njoku and a third id strongly consider it.
Good post Cousin,
How about this: Njoku and OBJ from the Browns for Gilmore and a 5th?
The Browns would move both. Njoku is a one year rental. OBJ has three.
If the Browns add JJ Watt with Miles Garrett and now have Ward and Gilmore at the corners they look good on Defense and they have Hooper as TE and Landry, they need to pick up one WR in FA or the Draft.
Perhaps one more trade. Go get former Ohio State star WR Michael Thomas from the cash strapped Saints
This would be a superb Browns Team.

OBJ and Njoku would be a great start to 2021 for the Pats........even if they took Cam back.
