Time for a New Offensive Coordinator

StephenA today said Brady left New England because of the decline of offensive weapons, whiffing on NKeal, Sanu, and AB. They'll try to pin this on Belichick but this is the classic work of McDaniels.

who is Steve a?

how does he know why Brady left us?

Speculation. I do have to give Brady credit for doing what was best for him which was leaving a depleted offense to go play with an all star team cast.

Below is very bad news if it means Belichick is hearing crap opinion second-hand hearsay from Ziegler and McDaniels that XYZ player rocked the Senior Bowl, and not seeing it with his own eyes.

It would've been nice of him to mention which members of the Pats actually were in Mobile...

clearly bb is holed up on the beach and watching tons of film on potential qb’s.

I expect a his time we get more than newton!

He also said on Tuesday that he has a source that said Brady was going to stay if BB asked him to. He didn't, so he left. I don't believe that and I think Stephen A's source had bad info.

If Belichick stays with McDaniels another year and we screw up another draft and develop no players again, this is on Belichick for not recognizing the flaws within his staff.

Is Chad O'Shea, Bill O'Brien, or Charlie Weiss available? It is time for a new offensive coordinator for the following reasons:

1. Offense Inept 2 years in a Row. Even with Tom Brady this offense only scored 17.6 points per game the last 9 games in 2019, same as this year 20 points per game.
2. Lack of Talent Development and Missed Drafts. Very damaging bust pick of NKeal Harry (and Dobson, and every other WR drafted since 2012). Absolutely no development of tight ends which is a concerning pattern with McDaniels. No impact players since 2012 (since McDaniels returned).
3. Cam isn't the root issue. Seeing Stidham come in and only throw 4 for 11, shows this is an offensive issue all around.
4. Totally Exposed without Brady. McDaniels went to Denver and went 5-17 before getting fired (traded up using a 1st rounder for Tebow, traded for Maroney). Went to St Louis in 2011 and led the 32nd/worst offense in the league averaging only 12 points per game that season. McDaniels has done nothing without Tom Brady, this 2020 season included (so failed and exposed 3 separate times now without Tom Brady).

I think the team would benefit from a new offensive coordinator. O'Shea has completely revived Cleveland's offense this year plus developed Baker Mayfield, and Miami's last 8 games of 2019 was a top10 offense under O'Shea. Or Bill O'Brien who developed Edelman, Gronk, and Hernandez while here and then won 4 AFC South titles with the Texans. Heck even see if Charlie Weiss is available ? I wish we had stuck with Brian Daboll if we could go back in time. We need a new offensive coordinator.

I realize you have a hard-on against McDaniels. You list the
Items of your concerns. However IMO that list is not the OC's job that is the job of the GM, and office staff, in this case, Belichick and others. McDaniels might offer suggestions on personnel but not the deciding factor as you claim.

That article says the Patriots didn't send coaches, so why are you worried about McDaniels?

In this particular case his John Carroll roommate Ziegler was present and is no better. I would punt entirely on offense given how bad we draft there with this staff and go defense first.

This is PatsFans. Nothing ever gets settled around here.
If it wasn't settled after we defeated the Germans for invading Pearl Harbor, then I doubt this gets settled any time soon either...

Yes I'd like to know who went there. Belichick is going to get second hand opinions and a short edited/fake highlight reel of whoever is being recommended.

Without a true non-COVID Senior Bowl, a combine, and normal pro days......

Everyone is flying blind THIS draft.....

I say go off game tape and zoom calls to coaches, scouts, etc....

I feel like bb trusts the college coaches too much. I think that is partially to blame for the past five terrible drafts.

bb the GM is an idiot savant. He is at his best when he watches tape.

Someone needs to take his cell phone away and not let him talk to college coaches! His poor social and communications skills are the reason we know names like Jordan Richards, duke Dawson, Cyrus Jones, slowjuan Williams, etc etc. etc,

We bust high CB picks because our draft methodology is broken for CBs and WRs. Belichick changed his prior drafting method. Now we look for dumb things like specific height or 3cone for CBs and WRs. Hopefully he takes a look at past performance and realizes the CB/WR methods are **** and goes back to his pre-2004 draft guides.

1. The Bucs went 8-0 after their bye and averaged 34 points a game after the bye. Averaged 31 points per game for the season.

2. Byron Leftwich and Todd Boyles look like red hot candidates for HC jobs next year.
