OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Spot on. Listening to how excited their media is reminded me of 2001. They are pretty psyched to be 8-5 and in the mix. That was a big win beating a team like Minny that had just won 5 out of 6 and is fighting for the WC. It is nice to hear the media be so positive and excited unlike our curmudgeons who make a win by 20 feel like a loss.
cough Failure & Azz cough

Has Gronk ever caught a Hail Mary? It looked like the throw was spot on today and I think a younger Gronk would have fought harder and been quicker to get a better chance at the ball.

I still burn over the Philly SB game. The D players were holding Gronk down so he couldn't leap for the ball. Also Hogan was bulldozed while running downfield and might have had a chance too. Too may things went wrong that game

I think Gronk also had a chance at a hail Mary in the 2011 SB not sure. If not that game, it was another important playoff game.
Play Butler and none of that would have mattered. Thanks Bill!

Not buying this. Our O-line this year is 800% better. Thuney is Thuney but Wynn > Newhouse, Onwenu > injured Cannon, Mason > injured Mason, Andrews > Karras.

That was the entire reason Brady threw about 20 balls away per game after 1 second. Especially Newhouse. We have a bunch of #3 WRs. That's hapened in the past too, and we did ok then.
Okay but Edelman’s missed more time, Harry hasn’t improved, Gordon is not here, Dorsett is not here. Meyers is the only somewhat improvement, and our TE’s might as well not exist. Also are offensive line is not dominant or as good as years pre 2019. So he’s dealing with a worse receiver Corp than he’s ever had in exchange for a better line (when the line improved when Wynn came back last year and Brady’s stats didnt)

Also the defense took a hit from Covid and free agency losses. We had a better front last year

The Giants and the Eagles defended those hail marys well. There was no pass interference on either of those plays from what I could see.

You could just as easily blame Brady for not seeing a wide-open James White on the strip-sack play...
Eh that doesn’t really take away from a historically great championship performance.

Not playing Butler was the difference between an easy win and the actual outcome of the game. I wish we knew what could have justified it. If Bill wanted to send a message then play him, win the SB which they would have, and then tell him to clean out his locker and send him packing after the final whistle.

I"m not saying it does, but you could point to a hundred things that went wrong that day, including the Butler benching. The HT and Edelman injuries were probably the biggest factors in that loss IMO.

OL and having time is everything. I think the WR core is better this year, actually. How many games did Gordon even play last year?

As for Wynn coming back, that was 1 player on an O-line with 4 bad injuries.

He played 6 games and it also was when Brady played his best. He faded. Likewise, I’m talking about results. The line was very good again once Wynn came back. Brady had plenty of time. The WR’s were still an issue and he couldn’t compensate

The 2011 team was overrated and faced little competition in the AFC. That was the year Edelman was playing CB, right?

what the hell is your point hahaha embarrassing yourself

He was fine in 2006 with Brown, Graham, Watson, and Caldwell right up until the AFCCG. Not buying the "Brady didn't have weapons excuse" for last year.

holy ****

Pretty common knowledge that James White was open on the most important play of the game. Brady made up his mind to throw to Gronk before the snap and got strip-sacked while he waited for Gronk to get open.

Tom Brady had one of the greatest playoff games a QB has ever had that game. We didn’t punt and we still lost. Belichick eats that L with his decision to bench Butler which led to Patrick Chung cover Agholor 1 on 1 and other big mismatches.

Maybe, but it was Belichick’s defenses that won at least half of the 6 super bowls. people sound spoiled when they blame Bill for Tommy not having 8 rings instead of 6.

I think most those SBs were a mix between good O and good D. In some like both Rams SBs the D was a bit better. On some like the Falcons and the Panthers the O was a bit better. But the only SB I felt that we were self hindered before the game even started was the 2017 SB. And to top it off even when the whole world could see the multiple mismatches against our secondary Bill was still to stubborn to put him in. That L is squarely on Bill’s shoulders.

I'm sorry but BB's defense "won" half of the 6? They also were the reason we lost 3.

2007
Asante Samuel dropped the perfect season. A season led by.... the offense.

2011
The Pats would've been blown out by the Giants in 2011 without Brady. Not because their offense was good but our pass defense was complete trash all season.

The defense was annihilated by Atlanta and Philly in the Super Bowl. Like historically destroyed by a backup journeyman in Philly. Stop.

You can't give up 41 to Nick Foles, bench your best CB and get a pass. BB deserves more blame than he gets for losing that SB.

We have now entered the "He only threw for 505 yards" phase of Brady hating.
