Content Post N'Keal Harry (lack of) Progress Report

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

We need to also remember he was robbed of a very nice catch and run for a TD last year against KC.

Colin Cowherd mentioned the other day that Harry is well liked for his blocking, and that might be something many of us would miss. Obviously a WR needs to catch as well, but I do think he shows moments of improvement, and as others have said, has held on when taking some big hits. Much too early to bail on the guy, IMO.

Lol did Moosekill embarrass himself so badly he needed to make a new screen name and start over?

Harry is going to the Hall of Fame

They thought they'd replace Gronk with this guy. But Gronk was mostly an inside the hash marks guy. Harry, he's too slow on the outside. But on the inside he can't seem to take hits or even get open either. So how can he replicate at least TE-like catches when he doesn't even play the middle of the field? And I don't want him to do that either, because Meyers is 20X better in the middle of the field and don't want to crowd his space.

@Wordsmyth you’ve been watching more football this year than all of us combined. What do you think?

Harry MIA again today after everyone lost their crap over one catch that should have been a penalty a few days ago. (He had one good snag in this game but that's not what you want out of a first round pick).

Two good snags, but it's cool

I loved those two catches. Maybe not gonna change anyone's opinion of him, but it made me hopeful and it was nice to see that "go up and get it" catch. That was they type of catch we heard he was good/great at. Keep it up N'Keal and you will have a spot in the NFL.

I will give Harry credit for that medium sideline catch. I feel like that's his game if he sticks in the NFL. He's not going to look open. And he can't catch post or fade or go routes. He's a jump ball guy. If he can ensure he will make sure his CB doesn't intercept, then it becomes a safer play to just toss it up when he's one on one.

Thought he played well. He got open on a nice double move and probably would’ve gone in for a TD had he not been held (no call of course).

Yep, I'll look for the glimmers of hope where I can find them. Harry didn't blow the doors off, or have a breakout game, but I think we're seeing where he can be useful. Maybe more simply than that, we're seeing him make NFL plays, and that's a step in the right direction. At this point, people need to get off "hE wAS A fiRsT rOuNd pICk!" and let's just see if he can carve out a role for himself somewhere.

Let's see how it plays out.

Most of this still comes down to qb play. After last night the few remaining Cam is ok people are hiding in their basements, of course they are mostly the Tompa bay fans like 203 who were hiding there from the last Tom interception and loss anyway, right 203? Mom bringing you down those hot pockets? Careful not to burn your mouth they are hot.
It is really hard to judge a wr if the qb can’t throw, and that should be obvious to everyone right now. I still don’t know if he is any good, but 3 catches for 49 out of 150 yards of passing from both qbs is 1/3 of the total and led the team in yardage. He will be back next season. Hopefully we will have a game where Stidham starts this season, but otherwise we will have to wait till next year with a real qb to see what we have in Harry.

Gotta give credit where it’s due. He took a decent NFL corner and made him his binch on the fade he caught. He actually got an NFL corner to grab his jersey because he was beaten on the double clutch move. Harry looked like an NFL receiver last night.

He's been off the injury report for 2 consecutive weeks (not including the covid timeline) and didn't get hurt (so far - we'll see). First time this season I think.

His QB is a running back who can throw a little bit and who only threw the ball 16 times, three of which were caught by Harry, including two clutch catches on third and long. Did you not watch the whole game or are you intentionally leaving out the obvious DPI that would have likely gone for a big gain, along with tough catch on yet another hospital pass that he caught while getting hammered, to try to prove your point?

By also commenting that his TD last Sunday should have been called OPI, you are either showing petty bias against Harry or your ignorance. WRs, especially big, physical ones, and TEs push off regularly in order to get open. Hopkins and Kelce have turned this into an art form. Did you call out Jules when he pushed off on his TD in the SB vs. Seattle? Harry did push off but he also made a tough catch for the score.

Baby steps. He had a pretty good game. That double move was a thing of absolute filth and should have resulted in DPI. Loved how physical he was on his other two catches. On the crosser over the middle, he knew he was going to get popped and still had the concentration to hold on. It’ll be interesting seeing the All-22 and seeing where they had him lined up most of the game.
