We're starting to see the team right the ship

They have to win if they have playoff aspirations.

This is what I'm thinking. When looking at the schedule before the season I thought that if we were even 4-5 after the Baltimore game (what i thought was the end of the really tough portion of our schedule ), we'd have a decent shot at 10-6 and playoffs. That looks tougher now with Rams, Cards, and Fins looking alot better than expected, and only the Texans looking worse. Thinking 9-7 is a more realistic goal to try for which may still get us in but we'll need some breaks with either Indy, Oakland, Miami, and/or Cleveland dropping some games they shouldn't.

They beat the Jets who I am pretty sure did everything they could to throw the game. They are on their way to a 0-16 record. Please. This is embarassing. The Jets actually won that game by losing to us and not screwing their draft position up and guaranteeing us an outside the top 10 pick for our worst year in two decades.

This team would definitely need to pull some amazing and miraculous upsets to get into the playoffs.

Will the new guys (Isaiah and Isaiah) contribute?
Well, Isaiah in the Old Testament was a Hebrew prophet who told of the coming of the Messiah. Maybe our new Isaiahs are going to predict the coming of another Super Bowl championship.

I think bill needs to try and keep the culture alive. They at most end up with 5-6 wins IMO.

But theres no evidence that teams that bottom out like the jets will have a quick turnaround.

On the opposite end, teams like the Ravens and Steelers never really tanked and totally rebuilt their rosters. It's all about how you draft.

And bill has done a terrible job since o'Brien left.

The defense is decimated due to injuries...
...and a systemic lack of demonstrable talent at all 4 positions of the Front 7...Guy (when healthy), Simon, and Wino (when not in the doghouse) are the only proven play-makers of the bunch...Phillips too if one thinks of him more of a LB than a DB...

Yes yes, I know it's the Jets, but I'm not just saying this because we won. I'm saying it because we're starting to see the young players execute Patriots brand football and Cam get some of his Camness back after his bout with CoVID. We got our comeback because the young core carried the load and Cam was able to execute again. The team is starting to reestablish its precision and mental toughness, which are characteristics of Bill Belichick teams even at their very weakest.

I'm not predicting miracles, but the team I saw out there on Monday might wind up fighting their way into the playoffs, especially with a possible playoff expansion looming. Once you get a bill Belichick team into the playoffs anything can happen, because he'll have been making moves the whole time to get his team ready for them.

Been a rough last few weeks but I think we're starting to see the team revert to type, just a little. I think 9-7 is a possibility, especially if we can score a decent veteran tight end to shore up our biggest weakness on paper.
They will have a tough time winning regularly with this DLine. They will get run on easily.

I'll be on board with this opinion if they beat the ravens. They were trailing the 0-8 Jets by 10 in the 4th, i dont think they did anything to make me feel better. The shining spot was Meyers, and that's pretty much it.

Right the ship? LOL. It's the Titanic this year! Beating the Jets is nothing to get hyped up about. It just says even at our worse, we're still better than the Jets, which is not saying MUCH!

You're deluding yourself. We're not a playoff team, and BB would have to find a new way to cheat to get us there. Not with the talent on this roster.

Cam Newton looked nice for a while, but he can't carry this sorry roster on his back.

Pats need to have a hell of an offseason just to get to competing for the playoffs next year. That means we need to strike gold in the DRAFT & in Free Agency combined to get back to a respectable level. And we need to find the next great QB. No more having the GOAT to wallpaper all the cracks. BB has to find a new way for us to win.

They were the # 1 defense in the NFL last year and won the Sb the year before mostly because of their defense. Systemically they are a top 3 defense. They rank either 1 or 2 in points allowed in the belichick era. (The site to search those numbers isn’t free any more so it could be 1 or 2 right now.)

But But But we drafted Dugger and Uche in the second round!! lol

We have uncovered some key pieces this Season.

Harris - is a back that can contribute.
byrd - could be a contributor as a 3/4 receiver.
meyers - could be a contributor as a 3/4 receiver.
onwenu - should be a stud at left guard for years to come.

we have 20 or so free agents after this season, so still many holes to fill.

qb - need number 1.
Dt - huge need. Multiple players needed.
Wr - huge need. At least 1 maybe 2 players needed.
It depends a lot on how uche and Jennings pan out, but I still see LB as a significant need. I’m not sure how much we’re supposed to rely on Hightower anymore going forward, and it’s a huge weakened right now. Weird that uche didn’t at least get significant snaps as the second LB in run situations on Sunday... I think I see LB (both on ball and off ball) as a bigger need than second DT

It would be a miracle if the Pats won a playoff game assuming the NFL bends the format and NE somehow squeaks in.

Its all about the draft for me now and finding a QB for the future. Meaningless wins this season only hurts that mission if you ask me. Im ready to correct the mistakes of the past. Stidham must be real bad to not see the field other than 1 game after Hoyer shot himself in the big toe.

What must happen at WR and TE has been discussed ad nauseum. I dont expect everything fixed on offense next season, but the Pats must get back on the road to being a legitimate post season contender and off the highway to Hell.

We were in every game minus the 49ers game, down to the final handful of plays. I don't think folks give enough weight to the impact of COVID on this developing team/offense. If this Jets game is the floor the rest of the way and we keep improving bit by bit.. no reason not to believe we cant force teams into dogfights and outlast them.

It starts with Baltimore....let's see how it goes. Go Pats!

This team is fatally flawed. They're not going anywhere this year and 9-7 is a bold prediction. Where are they going to get a veteran TE? The trade deadline is passed. Are they going to sign one off the street? I hear Ben Watson is available.

I'm not sure how you get 9-7.
Ravens - Loss
Texans - Win
Cards - Loss
Chargers - Loss (they're not good but they have more raw talent and it's a road game on the West Coast)
Rams - Loss
Phins - Loss
Bills - Loss
Jets - Win

I agree with everything except losing to the Chargers, Dolphins, and Bills. This year we 'bout to sweep the Dolphins, and Bills got lucky Cam fumbled. He won't let that happen again.

Oooh yay! Stats that don't really mean anything!

Thats an overly pessimistic outlook on the season. 2 more wins? That's it? I think they get at least 4 more
