Yes yes, I know it's the Jets, but I'm not just saying this because we won. I'm saying it because we're starting to see the young players execute Patriots brand football and Cam get some of his Camness back after his bout with CoVID. We got our comeback because the young core carried the load and Cam was able to execute again. The team is starting to reestablish its precision and mental toughness, which are characteristics of Bill Belichick teams even at their very weakest.

I'm not predicting miracles, but the team I saw out there on Monday might wind up fighting their way into the playoffs, especially with a possible playoff expansion looming. Once you get a bill Belichick team into the playoffs anything can happen, because he'll have been making moves the whole time to get his team ready for them.

Been a rough last few weeks but I think we're starting to see the team revert to type, just a little. I think 9-7 is a possibility, especially if we can score a decent veteran tight end to shore up our biggest weakness on paper.

This team is fatally flawed. They're not going anywhere this year and 9-7 is a bold prediction. Where are they going to get a veteran TE? The trade deadline is passed. Are they going to sign one off the street? I hear Ben Watson is available.

I'm not sure how you get 9-7.
Ravens - Loss
Texans - Win
Cards - Loss
Chargers - Loss (they're not good but they have more raw talent and it's a road game on the West Coast)
Rams - Loss
Phins - Loss
Bills - Loss
Jets - Win

Talking about a Debbie Downer....

Can you guess the lottery number for me? :excited:

It really is sickening how different things would feel if we had finished off the bills game instead of fumbling at the 15. Right in the division race, two straight encouraging performances from cam and the offense, jakobi emerging, reason to believe the team will improve upon getting back Gilmore, guy, Jules, Bentley and integrating Ford and Davis.
A few plays can really change the narrative of how a team is seen. Remember in 2018 we got down to like the 2 yard line against the Steelers. Holding call, didn’t score, and everything went to how the team sucks and it isn’t our year. Not that this team is comparable to 2018, but man stuff really can swing on a couple plays.

Most of these games are very, very winnable. I don't necessarily think they will win them, but writing them off as automatic losses is equally as dumb as what the homers are doing.

I disagree with the OP btw. All of the problems I had with this team still exist after the Jets game. Worst passing offense in football and a woefully inconsistent D.

Except for the SF game this was actually the worst overall that they have played.
The defense is decimated due to injuries.

This team would definitely need to pull some amazing and miraculous upsets to get into the playoffs.

Will the new guys (Isaiah and Isaiah) contribute?

In my mind it all depends which team shows up. The one that got destroyed by the 9ers and lost to Denver? Or the one that took the Hawks, Chiefs, and Bills to the wire? Looking at that schedule I see 2 games (Ravens, Bills) where the other team is clearly better and should be losses. I see 2 games where the Pats are better (Jets, Houston). The rest are all 50/50 games so 9-7 is possible in my mind though 7-9 seems more likely. I am not ready to give up entirely on the season yet but it will be one hell of a story if they do make a comeback. I trust Bill to right the ship and have them playing hard smart football til the very end and that's all I ever ask for.

We simply are not that talented of a team. I liked the fight we showed against the JETS but it still took a dumb offsides and a 51 yd last second field goal to beat an 0-8 dumpster fire. Let’s be realistic, the Pats are not playoff bound and need an influx of talent.

Baby steps, but still alot of improvement needed. This is a competitive team that’s been in all games but 1 against a hard schedule thus far.

the biggest concern is how our run d has looked since the denver game. We have to get back to playing d like in the kc game and before (i can understand the occasional meltdown against an elite qb). Solid d plus the improvement we are seeing on offense is a team capable of stringing some wins together. But if the d continues to suck we have zero chance of winning 9 and having a shot.

At the end of the day, i just at the least hope we can show signs at some point to give us hope going into next year with a solid offseason and stuff to build on. Encouraged by what in seeing from cam and the offense lately. id love if myers , harris, and byrd continue their play. Get something from these rookie te’s if they ever play. Uche , jennings help out at lb and Bentley get better. Dugger and joejuan contribute in the backfield. I know they all probably wont happen but to get some would be nice.
