OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

ok.......so Brady has Brown, Evans, Gronk, Godwin, Jones, Fournette and a top defense.........so will the coach be to blame when this team goes nowhere in the playoffs?

I'm more bullish on Tampa's defense being a lot better than the other NFC Elite defenses (Green Bay, Seattle) than I am about Tampa's offense being better than the other NFC Elite offenses. Outside of passing offense, one of the few consistent areas of strength (teams can replicate results week to week) is run defense, where they are allowing a league low 3.0 yard per carry after allowing 2.9 yards per carry during the second half of 2019. They may get shredded by a great passing offense, but it's going to be a lot harder to do that against a stout run defense that makes you one-dimensional.

I think Tampa's offensive tackles, as well as their lack of versatility (stacked at WR but lacking a solid multi-purpose RB like White, no fullback, not a lot of gameplan variation) means they'll probably meet their match at some point and struggle to score points in the postseason. That Chicago game was concerning, as the pocket just collapsed immediately down after down with Mack barreling through. And I don't like the boom/bust philosophy, especially in grind it out games where Brady will wish he had White, Edelman, Amendola, etc. for quick reads and paper cuts. Though I think that's the idea with Antonio Brown.

If they go nowhere in the playoffs, the person/people responsible for their failure will be blamed. Whether that's Brady, Arians, or whoever.

At the same time they didn’t have there horses for that Chicago game on offense

the browns draft brady instead of spergon wynn, and none of this happens...........anywhere

good grief! Don’t say “the browns” it’s bad luck even worse that 2 million black cats rushing at you

Brady hasn’t lost to the Giants since SB XLV
Yeah, but every game always seems like a nail biter. It seems Brady gets sack at least twice each time. Lastly, Brady often looks mediocre for a good part of the game when he plays them.

Yep. I was thinking the same thing. Started off slow, figured things out, pushed ahead and then made the plays at the end to win. Ugly but a tough road win on prime time.
TB playing the kinda football the Patriots used to play.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Patriots would have blow out wins and then have occasional hard fought games that end up wins in the final plays. TB was behind, was patient, waited for the other team to make mistakes, took advantage and scored touchdowns when needed, ran the ball to kill the clock and made key receptions, then the defense (just barely) did enough to seal the win.

You shouldn't look past opponents because of their poor record, look what happened to Green Bay, they got shocked at home. Games like that exist, that is also fair warning to foes looking past the patriots.
