I don't want to detract from Cam's and Jules's great performance but I do have questions about that Seahawks defense. The Seahawks offense is fantastic, and you can easily make a case that they are 1st or 2nd in the entire league.

But what I saw from the Seahawks D was not impressive at all.

Can't remember when I saw a QB for any NFL team have so much time.

That being said, I hope I'm wrong and I hope the Patriots have the best pass protection in the last 5 years.

We certainly have the talent up front.

Exact same play McD called earlier in the game, SS power read, but Seattle was waiting for it. They were all over it. See the DE set the edge and force the keep which made this play one dimensional.

We basically lost the game on one poor choice of a play call. Otherwise, a lot of encouraging things to take away from this game.
Meh... the play had an 80% success rate. Tip your cap to Seattle for making one more play. As you say, lots of encouraging things. Harry had a nice game, Edelman looks healthy, even Byrd came up with some timely plays. Cam was obviously great. Defensively, we missed Hightower, Chung, and Collins for the first time tonight. When we went zone, Wilson killed us underneath on crossers, slants, etc. When we went Cover-1, he hit us with two perfectly thrown deep balls. I’d recommend to exercise a bit of caution, though. Seattle’s defense is not good, and that’s even before losing a DB to ejection. Michel was still ineffective and I worry his knee might be toast.

Did JoeJuan Williams get any snaps on D last night? Don’t remember seeing him/hearing his name called at all..

Sony looks mediocre running the ball and isn’t a pass catching threat. I’m hoping Harris can be an upgrade.
I ask myself who is Sony Michel when I watch a Chubb or a Fournette cut and jaunt about 50 yards to the endzone.

Even the Jaguars undrafted rookie RB, Robinson, looked more explosive against a better defense. Hopefully Harris can get healthy and contribute soon.

Cam should have been under center on that final play and he should have just extended his arms over the goal line to break the plane. With his size, not even Seattle would have been able to stop him.

That was a long 1 yard. He wasn’t just going to extend his arms on that one. Let’s stop second guessing the playcall. If oline and blocker does their job we’re talking a different narrative today. Ran their best player with their best play and came up short. There’s certainly a reason why they run out shotgun.

I'm not a Josh hater but I thought he was not very good last night. Especially failing to adjust as the game went on. This offense needs to be designed around drop back passing with intermediate routes because that is where Cam shines. If they play man, Cam can run and do damage. If zone, that is when Edelman and our receivers are at their best. Designed runs for Cam other than short yardage is just going to wear his body down, possibly get him hurt, and make them way too predicable. Make them defend the whole field!

I thought Harry was very disappointing last night. If you are going to play slow and fail to get separation, break tackles and find a way to make them miss. He didn't do that. There is still time for him but as of right now he looks like a backup possession receiver.

Defense did not look great, but Wilson is playing career right now. And how about DK Metcalf? How annoying is it that we should have drafted him? He looks to me to be a future star in this league. Actually, he might already be good enough to be a star. And does NOT back down.

Josh was terrible last year too IMO. I am not sure if he has lost his confidence from not getting a HC job but he has been lousy for quite some time now.

Im concerned that Harris is another bust.

Little things all added up to this tough loss. Cam gets an A though.

We simply cannot allow deep bombs like that. It took us way too long to send corners after Wilson instead of slower linebackers.

And our special teams in a way cost us this game. Bad kick coverage and Folks miss makes a massive difference in how things could have gone.

I also have to thank Carrol and their dumb decision on offense to even give us a chance with some time at the end.
What the hell is up with running back almost all of the kickoffs from the endzone? Here is where Pats drives started after kickoff:

25 (touchback)

Hopefully when Uche gets healthy his speed will make a difference in coverage and pressuring the Qb.

I would have called a rollout option right with 3 receivers right but that might have been a TD if Onwenu and Johnson aren’t beaten on the play. Young players, bad blocks. It happens.

Johnson had his man. Mason was the one who pulled and had defenders blow by him to get to Cam..

Sure looked to me like the Patriots wanted to see what Taylor and the Kick Return unit could do on kick-offs.

Draft Calvin Ridley over Sony Michel and were contending for super bowl this year
