I don't believe him.

Why ? What would be the difference for someone who is clearly happy and at peace with where he is in life ?

He got paid either way and experienced many exhilarating wins and excruciating losses. What could he have possibily gained from winning that game that would make a difference now ?

That being said I am sure there are some players from the 2011 team that are still living in the past and have nightmares over drops and sacks. Mistakenly thinking one more win, a title and a ring is what would make them happy.

Think of it this way. If they won that game... Woodhead doesn’t become a HOF’er, he doesn’t become a Pats HOF’er, it probably has no impact on whether Bill keeps him. He’s not getting any more credit than Hogan would get from SB 53. Nobody is going to contextualize his career differently.

For Brady it means everything because it is about how his life will be defined. For Woodhead he was a role player. Even for someone like Revis 2014 meant more just to get that champion label on his resume. Woodhead is a guy 99% of non Pats fans will forget or remember for his last name.

I’d think that anyone - including no names - perform jobs to achieve a goal. Winning the SB is one of the greatest goals you can set. To be so close and fall short, I’d think, would be upsetting to anyone.

Again : « life changing », perhaps not. But to dismiss it’s importance seems a bit much.

I don't have a problem with it. For some of them, it's a job. Not to hijack the thread, but it makes you appreciate someone like Brady, who had that championship drive like very few others.

We've known for years that Woodhead was a work-to-live kinda guy. Why is this surprising to anyone?

Some people just need to leave the office at the office, if they still get it done when they're on the clock that's all I care about. Woodhead left nothing on the field when he played for us, if he was a jobber rather than a lifer, that's really none of our business as long as he did his job, and Woodhead did that.

Do you think most people go to work and think “you know I really hope the company becomes the leader in market share for the this fiscal year”. Most people care about performing well at their job and are like Woodhead where they know they won’t get credit and can be discarded regardless

I certainly would not expect him to be obsessing over the loss but not caring one way or the other seems unlikely. He was an instrumental player on that team and would have been a big part of the victory.

Financially, it probably wouldn't have changed his life. As an individual player, he wasn't going to be put in the HOF because of it. But the fact he could've had a ring and say he was on a team that was the best for that year is priceless (but apparently not to him). And it's not like he was a practice squad player who had no part in the team's success. Then I could understand that if they guy never played. However, he played a significant part for the season and in that game and find it disappointing he didn't care.

Woodhead not wishing he could have a do-over in a game played 9 years ago doesn't mean he didn't care as the game was being played.

This reminds me of the locker room video after the Texas Longhorns beat USC for the 2005 national title. The last thing Mack Brown said to the team was to not let that be the best moment of their life.

This is the other side of that. Don't let a loss haunt you a decade later. It sounds like Danny is very happy with how his life turned out and isn't letting one loss, however painful to some, dictate how he feels looking back on things.
