Would you be OK with a 2020 season that produced this 2021 result?

No. There is no reason to assume Trevor will be a success as a NFL QB. Hell given the first picked QBs in the last 10 years he is more likely to disappoint.

Screw those odds.
His entire claim to fame was one great performance against Alabama 2 years ago. Since then he has been good but not even remotely the all-world QB some believe him to be. He gets very fat off the obscenely weak ACC (no ACC opponent finished in the top 25 this past year) then comes down to Earth in big games against talented defenses.

Would be fun to see a Patriots scouting report on Lawrence leak like the one for Manziel did. Would be fascinating to read their take on him.

If the Bengals get the number 1 pick again (could happen) the Patriots could trade the majority of their draft to go get him, the Bungles have Burrows already... that's the only way the Pats could get Lawrence.

If you're expecting the Pats to lose that much, forget it.

Lawrence is the best qb I have seen since Peyton,

I would much rather go 0 and 16 than 7 and 9.

Lawrence in our offense means more super-bowls. I understand bb wanting to compete this year, but at what point does bb swallow his pride and do what’s best for the team?

As I noted in my initial post, I didn't say it was a plausible outcome. I'm merely saying if that happened, would you be OK with the disaster that this season would have to be?

No team deliberately tanks a season in the NFL.

There are only 2 ways Lawerence ends up in our offense

(1) 2020 season is cancelled and draft picks are awarded by lottery
(2) BB comes down with a bad case of COVID-19. Pretty sure that doesn't result in more SBs :(

Do not have a lot of confidence that there will even be a season at this point, if COVID-19 hits a training camp during the preseason.. it may be lights out for the rest of the teams.

If that happens would they draw straws?? There is too much pride on this team to allow an 0-16 team to happen and would be diametrically opposed to BB's philosophy..

I have to be careful how I word this because an itchy fingered mod shut down the thread the last time I mentioned this but I do think there will be a season.

Some players may already have antibodies. Some will test positive during the season and will be sent home for a couple of weeks. The NFL may have to expand the roster for the season to compensate for the issues orona- cay irus-vay may cause.

TB_Helmet mentioned concerns about the guys in the trenches which is a very real concern because those guys will be breathing all over each other all game long.

Anyway I think there will be a season but tough to know how it's going to play out.

If that's true, the 2011 Colts ("Suck for Luck") sure made it look like it, not signing a viable backup when Peyton was sidelined....
Indianapolis Colts Pulling Away in ‘Suck For Luck’ Race

Their front office were all canned after the season and so was a big chunk of the roster so what exactly did they gain from “tanking”. That’s why teams don’t do that in the NFL.

The Dolphins had every reason to tank last year and as we all know they didn’t. It doesn’t happen.

The 2011 Colts didn’t deliberately tank - they really were that bad. A lot of that I think was a coach that was exposed without Manning. Caldwell had a career .292 winning percentage in the NCAA. That’s not a typo. I doubt that season would have happened the way it did if BB was their coach.

Example, if "Tompa Brady" tests positive along with some of his heralded receivers or his O line they will be sent home and the team will carry on without him/them??

Not sure I see that..

Yes that's a likely possibility on any team. I guess it'll depend on how the virus situation is going during the season. If we're in the middle of a second wave then they'll probably shut the season down. If not they may treat it like a two week injury. I really don't know. Strange times.

Nope.

The 2020 Patriots roster is too good to lose that many games. Earning the top pick in 2021 means the team utterly collapsed in 2020. It means the young pass rushers couldn't pick up KNV's slack. It means the secondary got old all at once, and the kids got exposed without elite veteran play. It means that the new, young OL and TE depts isn't viable, and so the run-first offense cannot establish its identity. It means that the losses to the front 7 created a defensive sieve in the run game.

I am not interested in that outcome, because a #1 overall pick at QB cannot fix all those hypothetical problems.

I mean yeah, what other choice is there? Keep pouting for the rest our lives gor one bad season?

Maybe at GDT it will linger, idk

NFL has already said they'll be social distancing.
So lineman will all be spaced 6' apart.

They got Andrew Luck who was eveyone's consensus #1 pick. They had Curtis Painter as their QB and didnt trade for Kyle Orton or anybody else!!!!, because, you know Orton might have helped win a few games....
Sorry Colts plan was to "suck for Luck" and it worked.....Polian never thought he would be fired.
