Before I start, if Bill thinks Stidham is ready then great. I just don't know as he hasn't rung me up recently.

However, if we are looking for a QB, how's about Josh Rosen. Tua is at Miami and Fitz gonna be there. How's about seeing if Rosen can prove his first rounder status and is likely to want to have a new place to play by the end of the week.

Two years, two teams, neither liked him. No.

Unless they need a roster spot desperately Rosen's contract makes it appear he is only leaving Miami by trade. It would actually cost the Fish more to cut him than to keep him,
2020 Dead Cap: $4,959,490
2020 Cap Savings: $-2,789,694

I’d rather roll the dice on Stidham than Rosen. We don’t have the capital to trade for Rosen. To me, there is more upside to Stidham after he’s sat a year behind Brady and knows the offense more.

Where Stiddy ends up depends on Bill's opinion. What seems obvious is that he isn't in love with Love, Hurts, and Fromm (,though may nab for a look if he falls further) Says something about his respect for Stiddy

Give me Stiderty or give me death.

I think BB has told us that Stid is getting his shot.

IF that’s the case i hope he’s right. It could set us back for awhile if he doesn’t prove to be the answer.

Draft a developmental guy...

Ben DiNucci has gotten some interest from the Pats. Stay tuned.

That's if they cut him outright, not if they trade him.

The real problem is that he has guaranteed roster bonuses this year and next due in TC. So it'd be a $1.5M flyer, minimum, to get him now.

See what Stidham has. If it isn’t working out. Starting looking at Lawrence.

Okay, I'm confused by that 'correction'. What part of "Unless they need a roster spot desperately Rosen's contract makes it appear he is only leaving Miami by trade" seemed like it failed to address that?

I like Rosen a lot more than many, but he's not a Patriots fit. He's got that gunslinger mentality that suits the Bruce Arians of the world much more than BB's protect-the-football-at-all-costs way of life. He has a great throwing motion and footwork, but is way too ballsy when it comes to throwing into double coverage.

Also, he's injury-prone :( fairly thin frame, which doesn't help. He's always had to be brave standing in the pocket with the rush around his ears - he hasn't played for a team with a decent OL since high school. Took a lot of hits in college, and Arizona/Miami weren't much better.

No more than if we get crappy qb play out of dalton, Winston or Newton.
We have a much better chance to win with a young guy on a leash than one of those slugs.

Rosen is failing because he is getting poor coaching. Young QBs develop decision making based upon how they are coached. Most top college QBs have “gunslinger” mentalities because they play half their games against teams that put no pressure at all on them and can’t cover the receivers.
NFL decision making us taught by coaching. Who taught josh Rosen?
This is why I am fine with stidham if bb is.
Stidham will play how he is coached to play. His decisions will be reviewed, coached up and corrected. The play calls will limit the degree of difficulty.
Before week 3 of 2001 BB said “I’m just telling you we won’t be standing here after games talking about how we lost because of the qb”.
The fact that it appears he feels the same way about Stidham tells me we will be fine.

Sorry. Misread the post at early o'clock.

Think Rosen will be a perennial NFL back up and may finally find some prominence a few years down the road.. but two team in two years for a first round pick is a very bad omen...

Hell no to Josh Rosen. I'd rather have 60 year old Doug Flutie than Rosen on this team. Kid is a bust.
