Brady gone

I didn’t run away. Got tired of the abuse and figured before I caught ban for saying something stupid I took a break. Lesson that could be learned by many here.
Abuse? This is a football forum, your mental health wasn’t in question. You ran away because your predictions were trash.

LOL, let’s be honest, you weren’t besting me in a ****-talking contest. Leaving for a minute was the smart move. I actually felt bad for you because of the abuse you were taking altogether and didn’t pursue it when you came back. You’re welcome.

It's going to be Ok everyone. Both Brady and the Pats will have success. Assuming we even have football. lol.

The playing field is not level between Tampa and Pats.

Tampa gets millions in benefits from signing Brady that Patriots don't get. Tampa gets national exposure. Business ramps up. Property values..? Haha.

So that mitigates their risk a bit.

Hey dummy let me spell it out for you one last time. Before I could post something stupid that caught me a ban in a response to what was being said I took a self imposed timeout. Best for all involved. That was 6 years ago. The world has changed and what we have going on now makes sports fairly irrelevant.

You aren’t gonna bait me into another one. Nice try though.

20 glorious years is more than we could ever ask for. It lasted much longer than I thought it would.

It was going to end eventually.

Yes it was going to end eventually, I just hoped it would have ended with him retiring, not playing for another team.

Oh well, I wish him the best, but I am excited to see how the Pats rebuild. Everyone says the dynasty is over and thinks we will be bottom dwellers for years to come, I can't wait to prove them wrong. Maybe this coming season will be a little rough but they should be back in the mix by next year.
I should delete Brady from my social accounts, I don't really want to hear what he is doing in Tampa etc !

They couldn't...the point I was making was that Bill wanted to keep Garroppolo over Brady.
And you think that would have been the right move? Compare Tom’s performance in SB LII and in the 2018 playoffs to JG’s utter collapse in SB LIV.

@QuantumMechanic I’m curious what there was to disagree with here? Were you taking furious notes during that entire process in 2017? Maybe putting details into an Excel spreadsheet? Understanding that your clicking of that button is probably more reflexive than anything nowadays, I’m genuinely curious what there would have been to disagree with, if that isn’t the case.

3 years ago actually.

When did Bob become so spineless and useless ?? I remember, back in the late 90's and early 2000's I thought we had the best owner ever, now ever since Spygate and especially deflate gate I have really started to despise him, he is at least 50% responsible for Brady's departure if not more !! It is really time for Jonathan to take over .

So you waited until now to say something stupid?

You're not making any sense. In 2017 there was no way of knowing that the Pats would win another Super Bowl. Belichick, from all the reports, wanted to go with the younger guy and Kraft stepped in to save Brady. This time Belichick has another QB he apparently likes and didn't want to trade away the future of the team a second time.

We couldn’t win with Brady last season, we don’t have the cap to win with him this year. Are best case scenario was pray we were completely healthy and maintain an old ass roster and see if we can strike playoff magic.

Brady leaving gave us flexibility instead of chasing a ghost to honor his legend and it gave him a chance to finish off being able to go all in

This is psychotic FYI.

I would add that I'm not even sure Belichick COULD reload for one last run with Brady, even if he wanted to. I don't think the cap space is there to pull it off unless Brady took less money that he'd realistically be willing to accept in the first place. To really do it and have it actually work Brady would have to take some crazy low deal because of the overall state of the team's salary cap space.

The miracle is that it took this long to reach a point where they just couldn't square the circle of keeping Brady vs. building the roster.

Yes, and I think BB ultimately realized that that moment was coming.

BB did try to reload, last season and the year before, when he signed Gordon, then AB, and threw away a 2nd on Sanu. We all know what happened.

And I believe that at some point, BB decided that it just wasn't going to work, that it just wasn't in the cards, and that it would be better off for him to start focusing on a rebuild.

I really don't think that there was any real animosity on either BB's or Brady's part, Kraft's cryptic comment notwithstanding.

Both BB and Brady are smart enough to understand that it just wasn't going to work out (or last forever) and that neither of them were to blame for it.

I could well be dead wrong, but I'd like to think this was the outcome.

Rap is clueless. No way BB would have done this deal.
