Ebner to Giants

Hopefully Brandon King is healthy.

Wow I didn’t expect that.
Sucks to have all these BB underlings target our guys.

Former ST coach gets his ST ace to put the Giants over the top.

Good move by the Giants.

We will be fine on ST.

Great Patriot. Wish him well.

I was thinking it is annoying, but obnoxious might be a better description. I know we have to be patient, but . . .

Abandon ship! Abandon ship!

I think it’s safe to assume, given the cap crunch, there was going to be some casualties.
Ebner helped make up the best special teams in the league, but unfortunately we aren’t a special teams player away anymore.

Good for him, hope he grabbed the bag.

The coaching tree is not helping.... Belichick is really up against it this year... Wow. Time for him and Caserio to work some magic...

This probably pisses Bill off more than losing Brady.

At this point it doesn't matter. We're not winning the Super Bowl next year anyway. Why not get rid of bunch of players? Wouldn't be surprised if Gostkowski is gone too. We have $3 million in cap space right now.

King

Burkhead
Jones

The Pats have an abundance of top special teams guys who can do what Ebner can do. King will be back next year and he is younger and is a superior ST player. Love the player and good add for the Giants but Ebner’s roster spot and salary can be put to better use.

Are we really going to get worked up about every player that the patriots lose, without being able to look at the roster objectively? Get a grip, people.

I dont much care that Ebner is gone. However, I would like to see the Patriots field a competitive team. Meaning they have the chance to win every game. I believe they can do that, so this idea that it doesnt matter because they aren't winning the superbowl is faulking ridiculous

Fielding a competitive team is one thing, fielding a super bowl contending team is another. What the hell are you going to do with $3 million in cap space? At the end of the day the Pats are a business. If sacrificing short term success for long term sustainability at the top means having a subpar 2020, so be it. It's fantasy notion to think NE will win the SB next year.

As long as K Harry and Sony do not leave well be OK.

7 mil in cap space with ways to pretty easily free up another 10-20.

My bad, the cap number increased to 7 million. By "easily," if you mean releasing and/or trading players, then I agree. I still don't think its enough to field a super bowl caliber team. Maybe a wildcard team at best. If stidham turns out to be anything like people are saying, then maybe 2021 or beyond we can be thinking super bowl.

The Pats were so far ahead of teams other than the Chiefs in the AFC. If they have a decent QB and upgrade the weapons on offense they'll still be AFC contenders. If anyone can create a new edge rusher or outside linebacker its Belichick.
