Sammy Watkins?

Every team that's had him is always trying to get rid of him. Bad sign. He's just not very good. He wasn't even very good as a deep threat decoy for the Rams.

Wring your hands about Sanu all you want but his year by year stats compare favorably to Watkins despite never being the WR1 in any offense, and he costs a fraction the price.

For the price and profile (athletic downfield guy) I'd go with Robby Anderson 100 times out of 100.

Only if he Richard Sherman lines up against him for every snap.

He can double his efficiency (yards per target) by being an average NFL receiver, and he can improve on it by remaining terrible (but not the severe, outlier level of terrible he was last year.) Do you feel better or worse about your question now?
I don’t know....

A lesser version of Sanu would be Anu.
I would rather have Apu over Sanu

Guy needs to go work out with Randy Moss for about 3 or 4 years..... he just doesn’t seem to make the leap or get any better as you would expect.

How can you start this butthole of a thread, Chris?

1) Watkins has a high cap hit at 21m dollars
2) He’s even talked about sitting out 2020 if asked to take any kind of pay cut
3) He’s drastically overpaid as it is and isn’t that good
4) He’s currently under contract with KC
5) NE can’t really afford him anyway

Just checked Watkins salaries and production totals again.

I think the best odds are that he gets arraigned for identity theft and fraud. The unsavory deception scheme started when Bills traded another first round pick to move up a few slots and draft him, thinking this would be the Julio Jones trade 2.0. He has since defrauded the LA Rams (forced to relocate immediately - coincidence?), and the Chiefs, with an expensive ring to top off the absurdly inflated price.

If I were him I’d also take a year off to lay low. He can come back in 2021 and maybe everyone will forget about his career and grossly overpay him again.

16 million per for a 3rd receiving option sounds reasonable to me.

(Careful...some may think you’re serious.)

I think it's more he thinks he is a number 1 receiver.
Im running of the notion he wants to be a number 1 say at 12 mill vs a number 3 at 16 mill

Would you take $4,000,000 less to call yourself a #1 receiver?

And in what bizarre scenario is he negotiating his price down so he can push his perceived depth spot up?

NO

Andelmandola can provided the same numbers for less coin.

26 years old Sammy Watkins has a much higher upside than a a 34 year old Danny Amendola...

Not seeing alot of free agent options and I'm terrified of the draft.
Still think if Brady stays they try to trade back for Cooks.
It could be similar to the deion branch situation

I think the biggest issue continues to be the complexity of our offense. I wish Bill would dumb it down a bit to make it easier for WRs and TEs to adjust. Watkins would probably come here and have a difficult first year

With what terms? Cooks is due a $4 million bonus on March 20 and then a $8 million salary. Do you trade for the full $12 million cap hit? I can’t imagine the Rams are overly willing to take on any of that to facilitate a trade when they’d already be eating $17.8 million in dead money.

no thanks - he's one of the reasons I wanted the Chiefs to lose..

Hes on the KC payroll for 14M.

They won't pay him that so would he take 7M per? Maybe but its still too much money for a guy who disappeared in games last year. Big game vs Jax for 198 yards and 2 more 100 yard games.

No to Watkins. Go out and draft a AJ Brown who racked up more production than Watkins for pennies on the dollar. KC is moving on with Hardman if Watkins doesn't come cheap.

It's time to draft some young fast WRs who can do more for the team other than sitting in a whirlpool tub instead of chasing other teams castaway FAs.
