Both games did suck. But also we blew out indy and Pittsburgh in afcc during this time frame and #s still werent that low.

i think the sb should definitely be good/entertaining, but there won’t be many strong rooting interests outside the 2 fan bases.

No cheating Patriots to root against...Basically 44 states (and how ever you want to factor the global base) rooted for our opponent every year. Who hates the Titans? And outside of the AFC West no one really hates the Chiefs. And Mahomes is a likable character, remove Kelce and Hill and there is no one really to dislike on the Chiefs, forgot about Suggs. But in general and they haven't done **** in a half a century.

Not surprising at all. I remember the 2015 Super Bowl featuring everyone's favorite Mr. Fivehead and MVP Cam Newton had poor ratings as well. Sports needs a villain to root against, and the "cheating" Patriots and "smug" Tom Brady were easy targets.

And this was with Rodgers, Mahomes, a fun Cinderella team, and a Bay Area team. Very exciting buildup to those games...could get really, really ugly in the future.

NBA thrived in popularity during the LeBron Heat and Warriors super team years.

MLB and NHL have a new champion every year and both are struggling in popularity.

I would be interested in seeing a study on a big bad dynasty’s effect on fan interest. On a personal level, I know it effects my interest level.

Back when I gave a crap about baseball, hating the Yankees and rooting for anyone who played them was huge.
