I’ve been wondering this. It was probably the first time in over a month where the offense looked like it was somewhat functional.

Granted the Texans were playing rather soft, it was still nice to see White finally making plays we’ve been used to him making over the years. Ditto with Edelman making some nice plays late as well.

Maybe they were finally starting to get things clicking with each other? Or maybe it was just more of a product of the Texans getting soft late in the game. We shall see.

Still glad to see the offense show some life for the first time in quite a while.

No. The Texans took their foot of the gas and nearly blew it somehow.

No. These are the type of garbage time successes that pad stats. The Texans were dumb in playing a ridiculously soft zone and almost lost the game out of sheer stupidity. They still can’t beat a man defense, or anything besides a prevent.

I’ve been saying for years that, unless there are huge personnel advantages, McDaniels is an absolutely pathetic red zone schemer. I watch Sunday Ticket around the league and note the many touchdowns everyday whereby someone is just wide open for a an easy TD based on some creative play designs when passing from 10-yard line and in. These aren’t necessarily elite or even good offenses either...sometimes it’s just a great misdirection scheme that fakes out the defense. Not everything is on Josh, but the deep red zone problems are on him, as they have been for years. Josh’s concepts are so idiotic with four wide receivers, no screens, no pick plays, no bunches, just four one on one matchups where everyone runs into right into blanket coverage and turns around.

Man if Bolden had gotten that kick..

If beating off zone was something they were worried about with these receivers, sure. Short of that, the only thing to build on was that they didn’t quit.

Yea this team will fight to the end. No concerns there.

It's bringing knives to a gunfight on offense is the problem.

They threw away the AK-47 for a couple of .22 pistols. Those pistols could still get the job done, but they don’t make the job any easier.

garbage time comeback... game was not close

Come on. If Bolden gets the kick, and the Pats offense gets the td. You just know Kai Forbath would have missed the game winning XP.

The team was ravaged by the flu, their receiving corps was playing hurt, and they still fought to the end to make it a 6 point game.

Back in 2014, Bill said that the game he realized the team was championship caliber was the 42-14 loss to KC, when the team kept fighting in the 2nd half.

little closer than you think. Not defending it, but the scores the score. A loss is a loss but there’s always circumstances that decide a win and a loss. Firstly, execution and turnovers. Had Brady not thrown the interception its a much different game. Had they called the blatant pi on the interception, much different game. Loser speak yep, they lost but they can play better. Zone was kind of a weird call for the defense but maybe the right call considering all the illnesses out there.

they can play and coach better than what they showed last night. Tough game coming up, not very confident but its a good chance for this team to rise to the occasion.

Also illegal contact or maybe even PI on the 4th down play to Sanu.

No. The Texans were clearly playing back and letting the Pats waste time. Those two TD's were truly garbage time TD's.

The Pats don't run many pick plays because they almost always get flagged for OPI on them (see the Edelman OPI in this game).

Wait. Are you saying there way blatant PI on the Harry INT play? Harry totally gave up on the route once the defender touched him (and the defender is allowed to touch him).

Now we know the only way they can move the ball is when opposite defense soften in garbage time.

When you run a pick play as badly as Edelman did on that one you deserve to be flagged for OPI.

Only reason game was interesting at the end is because Houston’s defense started playing soft. This patriots offense is beyond easy to defend. Single high safety with tight man across the board and they’re done. Houston has a crappy defense and KCs is even worse, they’ll struggle mightily again next weekend and the defense simply won’t be able keep KCs offense in check long enough.

It was a very bad prevent defense. They basically jogged along side James White on that long catch.

Well, I realize it’s absolutely meaningless really, but I would like to see Brady be number one for career touchdown passes even for a few moments. So I’m glad he was able to get a little closer.
