    Lipstick on a pig..

Why would any team fear NE beating them deep? Stay in the same defense and pressure Brady. Double Edelman and White and force the misfits to get open and catch the ball.

Yep I’m also thinking about this. Brees is right behind him.

Am certainly hopeful that the learned something in garbage time that can transfer moving forward. Last year they seemed to find something the last 2 weeks playing against dregs that they were able to bring into the playoffs so who knows.

Yeah not at all. It was garbage time touchdowns which we have seen a million times against the pats over the years. Texans dominated the pats the entire game and the score was zero indication how the game went.

Meh, it's certainly not something tactical to build on. None of those plays usually work if the defense is playing in earnest.

I can see some value in it, in the same way that getting a WR coming back from an injury a quick reception has value. It may only get you a couple yards, but it gets his feet wet and his head back in the game. Let's him know he's back and gets that first catch out of the way so he can relax and do his job.

In that way, maybe this is a starting point for getting White more involved again, or just reminding everyone that they're still football players and can capitalize on another team's mistakes (not just make some of their own). I don't think it's going to be THE turning point or anything, but they gotta start somewhere.

This is definitely farting rainbows type of stuff from OP. The offense did diddly poo, to quote Jim Mora, until the score was 21-3 with a quarter and a half to play. The quarterback was absolutely terrible until they got down 21-3 and the opponent stopped playing defense.

And don't start with the 2016 Super Bowl come back stuff in drawing comparisons - that team had a quarterback who still went to OTAs and had some functional receivers...and the quarterback didn't focus on 2 guys all game...

The offense had ALL the pieces it is going to have this season - the savior left tackle, the supposed wunderkid first round receiver, the guy the team acquired for a second round pick this season, and the guy coming back from a concussion...

and what happened, the offense and quarterback have a golden opportunity to play from ahead with a TD after the D made a 3 and out to start the game...and they spontaneously combusted with 1st and goal from the SEVEN!

Why is the offense headed by the guy with all the answers to the test ranked #24 in red zone td efficiency? The Patriots are behind such juggernaut quarterbacks as Ryan Tannehill, Jacoby Brissett, Ryan Fitzpatrick (let that fukcing sink in), Josh Allen, Jameis Winston, Mitch Trubisky, Daniel Jones...I could go on, but I won't...

I think they were intentionally trying to recreate the Super Bowl.

Gotta start it with a missed PAT.

LOL did you see my Sanu thread? I’m definitely not all sunshine and rainbows about this offense right now.

I am very confident I this team, about as confident as I was last year.

They will get it together. As they always do. I’d like to see them let Brady get into a rhythm though. He has been doing better when going uptempo.

Problem is, I think they've dumbed it down as much as they can.

I was rather confused by bbs sideline demeanor. Can't recall him arguing with refs. Looked like a frustrating night for him... He seemed resigned at their struggles... But I'm just speculating

    Exactly!
Any Pats fan who can't recognize Bend'n Break should turn in their homer card

Absolutely not. It was a team up 3 scores trading yards for time.

What got me riled up was the blatant hold on Van Noy for the deep TD by Houston.

Should have been 4th and 10 at the 35.

Would have felt better if there had been a breakthrough with Harry and Sanu. But seemed to be pretty much Edelman and White.

Don't be fooled by the garbage-time "production"...
Romeo (one of the disciples of Bend but Don't Break) was simply trading yards for time, Period.

Not only was that playing prevent a bit early against the one team you don't want to do that against, it was the deep defenders literally standing like a statue on that James White run. Like. They just let him run by lol.

I did like the position it put us in, but no team is going to make that mistake again. Teams just found out that, yes, indeed - the Pats never get demoralized to the point where you don't have to respect their ability to steal a game back lol.

Would've been amazing, though. I think had they pulled all the way through, it could've been a great boost to mentality.

Problem was the Texans thought the game was over and played prevent too early. Had Bolden got the insides kick, Pats are in Texans territory with 50 seconds to win the game.
