Why does everyone seem to hate Jimmy G?

I’ve wondered it too. He seems to get a lot of hate and called a douche, or arrogant when to my knowledge he’s never done anything douchey or arrogant. The whole porn star thing was so stupid and I’ve only seen women get upset about it. I like Jimmy and will root for him to play well against any team aside from the Patriots.

I think he's dreamy.

calling erin andrews "baby" was kinda douchy ... just sayin ' ...

he's not a Patriot any more, so why root for him? just because he spent a few years here? nah... don't find myself rooting for other former Patriots, so why should garrapolo be any different? because he played quarterback? yeah, no.

Some media people hate him since he was groomed by the Patriots, so praising him would be de facto praise of the Patriots.

Some others doubt him because he got his big contract on the basis of less than 1 season of work, and we have seen QBs regress after a good year.

Some Patriots fans knock him because they are annoyed at the Garappolites (who I think are actually very few in number, though vocal) who wanted JG to replace TB12 last year (and settle for 1 less Lombardi and counting, but I digress).

I root for him.
Here are the facts:

1. JG was going to leave the Patriots after the 2016 season. PERIOD. The only way he stays would have been if the Pats were willing to let Brady go. It was as simple as that.

2. For the Pats it was simple. In 2016 Brady was a significantly BETTER QB than Jimmy. So they traded Jimmy for what they could get (at the time a top 2 second round pick) and went with Brady.

The pick ended up being #40 which the Pats traded and traded ,but IIRC it ultimately ended up producing some good players, none of whom I can remember off hand,

3. The Pats made the RIGHT choice. There SHOULD be no question at this point, Jimmy might be 18-3 as a starter over the past 3 years, but the Pats went to THREE straight superbowls and won 2 of them. And the fact remains that Jimmy is STILL not as good a QB as Tom Brady.

4. I can imagine why any Garapolite would ever wish the Pats had kept Jimmy over Brady. It makes no sense to this day.

I root for Jimmy in the same way I root for Jacobi Brissett and Trey Flowers, etc. You want them all to do well, EXCEPT when they play us.

Pats' crazy haul from Garoppolo trade

If we face SF in the SB it'll be epic.

No matter where I look, it seems that people are either "not sold" on him or won't give this kid any credit for where he has his team right now. I understand that he is young and has to earn this but he seems to be doing just that this season.

I've seen guys like Rodney Harrison and Stephen A. Smith to local radio guys and some around here who roots against him. (Think there was a thread on this topic, specifically). He's been deemed a "game manager" and the good ole "its all his defense" reason why they are winning. I feel like I see him throwing the ball pretty well, scording TDs, limited turnovers and most importantly, winning games for his team. His team has the same record as our team in a much better NFC. He's still very young and has a lot to learn from and develop if he remains healthy.

Just not sure why it seems people hate this kid. Those 4 games Brady was suspended, he did well for us the first 2 and 1/2 games. (Until he was injured). Maybe I'm missing something here.

Thoughts on this?
I’d be more incensed that the qb with the great defense who people are giving no credit is Brady.
But then I truly couldn’t care less.

Because he's a lot better looking than I am.

I root for Jimmy G, but perhaps some Pats fans do NOT root for him to justify our trade compensation.

After all, the trade that sent him out the door for a second rounder would feel so much better if he crashed and burned in San Fran as opposed to him actually having success (nevermind win a Super Bowl).

Again, I'm above that but I do offer that as a potential reason for the haters.

"people"
Let me give you some life advice. Stop listening to these people. They are morons and pot stirrers. Get your updates from Patsfans. If you're on twitter, Reiss, Cap Space (Miguel) and Matt Chatham are sane people to follow. Otherwise ignore everything else.
What those "people" say about Jimmy G or anything is just noise.

I wish Jimmy the best, until February.

It was just the term I decided to use. Didn't realize my choice of words would warrant life advice. Its not my life we are discussing, you an analysis from me to you brother. But thanks

Agree.

I'd rather play NO, then SEA then SF.

The ****tier the D, the more I want it.
Saints are the only team the league hates more than us, bring em on.

I am starting to fear their D and wonder if facing New Orleans or Seattle might not be preferable.
This.

Their defense is pretty scary, it would be a close game with both defenses clamping down on the QBs and the offense. Would be a low scoring game for sure/.

I like the Saints. Pherin has always provided value and keen insights here.

I warned everyone about their defense for months but it was said they will cool off, lol.

They have one of the best defensive lines in the history of football and Sherman is playing like Seattle Sherman.

We would have to hope inexperience gets to them because on paper they are at least equal if not better. Jimmy G is starting to really show that he can be a top 10 QB, they have a good OL when healthy, improved weapons.

Yeah he’s a cool dude. I sometimes root for the Saints. It feels like they’re due for a Super Bowl appearance.

Hosed last year. Should have been them.

Don't hate him. Wish him nothing but success unless playing us. Been watching his games whenever I get a chance to.
