Newhouse is a backup, I don't know why folks expect him to be Jonathan Ogden...or even Matt Light

I think people expected him to show more improvement, and to at least not completely suck.

Sentence no. 2. - Uh, that’s because it’s not just the OL.

Uh. I am specifically talking about the OL and not the overall offense. So in this case it is "just the OL" because I am talking only about them.

I suspect eventually Wynn will be a guard.

In his 1.5 games Wynn looked like a top LT. Do we really have to do this lazy dance again because some people overvalue size ? It is not size but what you do with it.

Time will tell. Sure his 1.5 games

The OL problems are related to other problems with the offense.

??

Shaq Mason playing his worst season and being driven into the backfield consistently is not directly related to anything else with the offense. That is him losing 1v1s at a higher rate than in the past.

Same can be said about Cannon and Newhouse. At least with Newhouse the expectations shouldn't be as particularly high. He is limited by his relative lack of athleticism compared to pass rushers.

The only one playing at expected level is Thuney.

When one of the guards pulls it is a 50/50 coin flip if he will be at his block in time or the RB (most often Sony) gets blown up around the LOS. Same with screens. How many perfectly executed screens did we have this season ? I think you can count them all on one hand.

And TEs not seal blocking properly or messing up wham blocks is an extension of that. Or do you think they work isolated from Scar and the other lineman on that ?

I am not saying the OL is responsible for all problems on offense. I am specifically only talking about the OL out of the context of everything else.

Cajuste = Antonio Garcia pt.ll will be another wasted pick. The Guy lost Ton of weight.

lots of players look good for a game. Let’s see him do it consistently against top competition.

There are times when the OL has blocked well and the back has missed the hole. Completely. After watching Nick Chubb on Sunday, I'm coming around to the idea that he might have been the better choice.

There are times when the OL has given Brady time and he's missed the receiver or, more often, no receiver has been open.

The OL is a work in progress because the Pats have players at the three most important positions who are significantly worse than the players they replaced. Plus, they zone block which is a coordinated effort. It takes a lot of time and effort to adjust. And the OL looks much worse than that because the skill players aren't playing all that well. That's what I mean when I say it is one integrated unit that is underachieving.

Your initial post made it seem like it was just the OL and that's Scar's fault. I just don't think that is true at all.

The problem is you keep zooming out to issues I am not talking about because they have nothing to do with my point.

I am absolutely aware that there are times where they did their job but the skill players failed to get open, Brady airmails a throw (e.g. first play against the Ravens) or the back misses a lane.

I am specifically talking about the linemen playing at a more inconsistent level individually when focusing only on them and leaving out other factors.

What you are doing is the equivalent of saying I can't talk about e.g. Izzo having issues with blocks in space because there are times where he executes but others screw up.

I don't understand why this has become such a back and forth. Are you satisfied with the individual performance of our lineman ?

I don't know about any weight loss, but he is indeed another in a long, long line of wasted picks...damaged goods pre-draft...should've been a late day 3 pick.

Didn’t Garcia get really sick?

Some of the resident trolls keep bringing up Garcia as a mistake as if anyone could have predicted blood clots.

They desperately need their daily dose of attention

I must admit that I had to look up Dielman.

Veldheer, Schwenke and Dielman retired, along with Gronk. Wynn and Andrews were medically disabled, along with Develin and Johnson, while trades for Cunningham, Eluemunor and Bodine brought zip. Then Mason suddenly became a turnstile. No help in the draft. As far as blocking goes, this is about a worst case scenario, no? But Scar has been working on it and they have improved (4 ypc last week). Wynn returns in a couple weeks and LaCosse as well. 8-1 so far. Blocking should get better.

I feel like we are moving into hyperbole territory with how much people **** on Newhouse.

And yet you rarely hear anyone criticizing Scar over the overall performance of the OL.
One guy has been terrible for 7 games. The other guy has been hall of fame worthy over a 30 some odd year career. I wonder why no one is criticizing Scar...

He has been claimed off waivers by the Lions.

He can't make The Texans or Patriots with their offensive lines.

What do the Lions think they are getting?
