The 2004 Halloween shellacking in Pittsburgh

Just remember, the Ravens entire offense only works if Lamar Jackson is 100% healthy. Any kind of ankle twist, sprain, knee injury that most QBs play through will change the dynamic completely. This is why I am doubling down on my skepticism that this dude will last in the NFL. If he can’t be Barry Sanders-like, every concept in their passing game is badly damaged. And there aren’t many QBs who aren’t limping into January.

I hate Harbaugh, but the Ravens players have been really respectful of the Patriots. They played an excellent game and won. Will never forget the obnoxious incredibly disrespectful talk by the ‘04 Steelers and their fans, with the Patriots ending a historic winning streak and winning 2 of the last 3 SBs (at that time.). I’ll never hate a team and surrounding fan base as much as that team, and there will likely never be a sweeter revenge game than that total whipping at Heinz Field.

The only reason I wouldn’t wish to face the Ravens is Harbaugh. He is really coach, and he can match Xs and Os with the Patriots. I don’t feel this Ravens team is that great, but Harbaugh is one of the very few coaches who can stand up to BB and his staff with an aggressive game plan that attacks Pats weaknesses. As much as I loathe his personality, I’d probably take him second among best coaches. People are finally realizing just how bad Joe Flacco has always been, and the Ravens had like a 5-year run as serious SB contenders with below average Joe.
Except for the photo - although in a weird way, that is a sign of respect. Almost as if they are thrilled to beat the Pats, but bummed they wasted it on the regular season.

Put your panties back on. Nobody is saying Roman has the Pats number.

What I would say is that Roman tends to do well with a mobile QB. The Ravens offense is starting to look very similar to the 49ers offense with Kap but better because Jackson is substantially better.

Your misunderstanding. I'm not saying you said radio dudes said Roman has their #. I'm saying I heard radio dudes say that.

They took a team photo after the game? How’s that any different than the entire 11 on defense posing for a picture in the end zone after a pick-6?

2004 game was without Dillon and Branch, plus Law ended his season during that game. The former two absences definitely put the Pats at a disadvantage; Notice how huge they were in the rematch. Losing a guy like Law mid-game is always tough to overcome in an afternoon window.

Regards,
Chris

Yes, they were undermanned on offense and the defense lost Law, but Pitt pushed around a fully staffed front as well. IIRC, Pitt got two or even three first downs running out the clock at the end, and did so with ease.

That's what I'm hoping proves similar about the two games. Sometimes the opponent just has an intensity level you aren't ready to match. And their edge can amp up later in the game when the outcome is inevitable.

I expect NE to take a different approach next time around, but I expect them to be more ready for the increased physicality as well.

Both are ludicrous

If I remember correctly Ty Law blew his knee out early in the Halloween game.

ahh that team photo celebration after a turnover is probably the most annoying sh** there is in the nfl today. Thank God our guys dont do that.

My friend Mr Google says you are correct sir.

There was sod popping up left and right in that game. Ugly
Cool. I admit, I tried Googling for 15 seconds and gave up.

IIRC in 2005 vs the Squealers we lost Light and Harrison.

The 2005 rematch of the AFCCG, also at Heinz, was another one of my favorites. Heard all offseason about how it was a fluke and poor Ben was just a rookie. Favorite sound in sports is the whimper coming from Heinz Field after Brady beats them. The 2017 one was just so poetic and perfect, with Dumb Ben chucking a pointless INT to lose the game despite having a chip shot field goal to tie. That was a top-10 NFL regular season game of the decade.

Last season clinched it for me.
It’s not about this game means this or that game means that. it’s not about you struggled with something against X and Y is better at it so you are screwed.
It’s about having enough talent to compete with anyone, putting together strong post season games plans, making the plays that matter when they matter most.
Having the GOAT QB and GOAT Coach and a system that has produced so much success just increases the odds.
To me it’s all about getting the 1 seed and then a new season starts.

Or at least the Bye.

That's odd. You tried to Google something about Patriot's history? Isn't that like Wikipedia Googling something?

I think I typed "ty law injury 2004" and it brought up an article that he went on IR for a leg injury but then I got a phone call and called off the search. After the call I remembered it was as lisfranc or however you spell it

Impressive nonetheless. I can barely remember which one of my kids was born in 2004. Haha

The only reason I remembered it was a lisfranc was because how weird it was and there was speculation Wynn had it

Pretty sure BB would agree with this.
