Schefter: Just based on the facts...Brady thinking/setting up to leave NE

I think Jimmy G. is a bad fit for his system.

And you think an even less mobile QB like Brady will handle all those boot actions better?

I think JG is doing exactly what he is supposed to do.

Not sure what you mean by that. Are you suggesting Shanahan would want Ryan instead JG?

I’m saying Ryan isn’t mobile either and thrived under Shanahan with a historic MVP season.

I won't get into this.

To me its absurd to think that the 49ers would be much better off with Brady at his age than with JG right now.

Just based on the longevity argument it makes no sense whatsoever.

But, hey, if we can coax them to send JG back to us for Brady after this season or next it would be a total no brainer.

Let’s see how the season shakes out. Another big injury to JG would certainly change the equation (as it would for Brady.). If JG continues at the same pace and finishes with, say, 15 TDs and 13 INTs and then lays an egg in the postseason, it’s reasonable to think he may not be a long-term lock. He also struggled last year under Shanahan before his injury. The whole argument that Florio brings up is that the Niners have an out after this year with JG, and he hasn’t really proven much. His disappointing individual play has been overshadowed by the Niners great team. Those things tend to get “less lost in the details” when teams fall short of their ultimate goal and are looking at where things aren’t working as well as they could.

The thing is that sometimes as a QB you dont necessarily need to be a statistical juggernaut to successfully guide a team.

JG can make all the throws, has quick decision making.. the injury angle where sometimes he exposes himself to punishment is really the only big issue with him.

You can do much, much worse as the 49ers have seen in the past 5 years.

FWIW, Brady when asked about the reports 2019 may be his last with NE:
Tom Brady said:
Brady offered his reaction to this speculation during his Friday afternoon news conference at Gillette Stadium. “My contract situation hasn’t changed in many months, so I don’t know why it gets brought up now,” the 42-year-old QB said. “I don’t know. I think it’s just hype, media, and everyone’s trying to make money and that’s what it’s about. I don’t get into it. I mean, honestly, my situation hasn’t changed. I’m just focused on what I’m always focused on, which is this week, trying to be a great quarterback for this team. As I said the other day, things happened at the right times, but this isn’t the right time.” Brady spoke in the third person when asked whether the constant talk about his future is tiresome. “I’m a 42-year-old man, man,” he replied. “I get tired. No, it’s just — part of it’s just being Tom Brady, I guess.”

Tom Brady Responds To Speculation He’ll Leave Patriots After 2019 Season

Oh God, no!!!!!!!!!!!

Welp. Guess Brady's as good as gone then.

Well in propping up my wild idea, I’d say there’s less than a 10% chance of it happening. But I strongly believe it’s either NE or SF for Brady, considering obvious family factors and wanting stability for his family. It makes sense. SF may very well not be an option (if JG is kept), and Brady may very well just sign with NE anyway. But I think it’s interesting that Brady and SF are in my opinion a plan B to one another, and Jimmy G. and the Patriots may also be a plan B to one another. Just interesting how these two have an outside chance of being dependent on the other again. Probably won’t happen.

Brady knows the slot WR offense is tailor made for him. Hope he doesn't go

It doesn't say much for our fandom and this site if all we can find interesting to talk about is this, Antonio Brown, and whatever the latest receiver possibilities is getting everyone hard.
When Oprah returns to TV full time, half the board will clear out

This entire narrative is simply batsh!t crazy...and that's an understatement.

NOTHING has changed in this story for the last six months, yet the media, talk shows, AND fans trot it out on a daily basis as if its 'breaking news". WTF, guys, the level to which Brady's "body language', tone, facial expressions and eyebrow knits are scrutinized, reminds me of the books that were written based on who was sitting next to who at the May Day parade during the cold war years.

Adam Schecter has made Brady speculation into a cottage industry by simply changing the emphasis on which section of his own ADMITTED speculation he wants to trot out that day. And as I might add AGAIN, there has been ZERO new news on what Brady intends to do about his career for next year. In other words nothing has happened that changes ANYTHING since last August. Which would make one wonder, WHY are we still talking about it. Are we THAT bereft of anything else to say concerning this really wonderful team.

Have you heard anything about AB? Lol

I think he's got at least 1 more season in him.
He always said as long as he could play at a high level.
I don't see him cheating himself on that or playing elsewhere.

Surprisingly, they haven’t run much roll outs or bootlegs.

JG can make all the throws
I’ve watched every game this year and his arm strength is pretty bad. Throws a lot of wobblers too. He’s also prone to the “Bledsoe pat” of the ball and waiting too long for someone to get open which he ends up taking a sack.

I was a huge Jimmy G supporter, but he’s looks pretty average right now.

He seems like a square hole, round peg in that system. He rarely throws on the run or even stepping to a throw. He runs a robotic, often first read offense like Matt Ryan did, even though he’s better with a read-react decision making role. He’d probably be good on the Pats again (his strengths are why they drafted him.). He still has tremendous talent but seems handcuffed. I realize they are 6-0...that could work against him in terms of the team option because their defense is incredible. All is forgiven until a team gets eliminated, and then those subpar numbers are magnified and weak links/weak fits are scrutinized.

With Niners (14 starts)
19 TDs
14 INTs

That’s well below acceptable modern standards. $26.6M cap hit next season if they don’t opt out. If his name were Joe Schmo, analysts would be bearish on the 49ers chances due to their inferior QB.

The only thing Brady cares about is rings. He has by far the best chance to win rings in NE with Bill as his coach and this defense behind him. Not sure why he would walk away from that. Yes, his legacy would get a boost if he won a SB elsewhere, but the chances of that are low unless it is the perfect situation like when Manning went to Denver with that defense. I think this is all click bait.

Also I can't see him retiring after this season. This defense is too good. I think he plays 2 or 3 more seasons after this one season and then retires. While he doesn't talk about it and pretends not to care, we all know he wants to be known as the GOAT American athlete. With 6 rings he has cemented himself as football goat and some people consider him goat overall, but most still have Jordan ahead of him. 7 or 8 rings and that changes, especially since Brady is still elite, not some mediocre game manager being carried to rings.
