Stephen Anderson TE upgrade?

At this point it is clear that Izzo is not A blocking TE. Maybe he has that potential if he bulks up but that isn’t happening this year. I would be fine with picking up Anderson and seeing if they can sneak Izzo onto the PS. That obviously means they would need to pick up a blocking TE but that is no different from the current situation.

He definitely has some athleticism:

“Among his position group at the combine, he finished first in the vertical jump (38"), fourth in the broad jump (9'11"), and tenth in the bench press (16).[22] On March 18, 2016, Anderson opted to participate at Cal's pro day, along with Jared Goff, Bryce Treggs, Daniel Lasco, Maurice Harris, Kenny Lawler, Trevor Davis, Kyle Kragen, Stefan McClure, Darius Powe, and two others. His performance in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard dash, and 10-yard dash would've finished first among his position group at the combine. Anderson's time in the three-cone drill would've garnered him fourth place.”

If Lacosse is out then Anderson has to be considered a possible short term solution, but they are not cutting Izzo to add him.

Pass on Anderson. Maybe bring Aaron Ripkowski in for a workout.

Anderson was the first player I thought of after hearing Jakob Johnson was heading to IR. Unless, he’s claimed on waivers, there’s a real good chance the Patriots sign him to fill the HB/FB role with Johnson out.

He knows the offense, and he plays STs also.

If the idea is start to exchange Jags all over the place I'd rather stick with Izzo in hopes for development. He can catch.

The Pats need to trade for a proven player. After week 7 there will be a clear picture of teams out of contention so it will be easier to pull a trade.

Anderson is a move TE...pass. We need blocking...

I agree. However, with LeCosse injured, Anderson is an upgrade over Izzo's blocking. Unless BB wants to activate the guy from the PS, the other choices is go with Izzo plus the injured LeCosse. An acquisition who doesn't know the offense won't be much help in the next couple of weeks.

We also need anybody who can catch a football, as of the fourth quarter on Thursday.

Mister Anderson > both the useless glass-made LaCost and the bigger but still can't block worth sh!t Izzo.

There were 7 TEs in TC...Excluding Watson, Bill kept the worst 2.
