I disagree. I think saving the money was a big factor in their decision and the timing.

I disagree, but operating under that assumption does change the situation, yes.

Not necessarily. Suppose saving the $9 million was a legit consideration in cutting him.... then suppose they now believe they won't save the money..... it's not necessarily the worst idea I've ever heard.....

Of course it's not necessarily the worst idea you've ever heard, that remains getting involved in a land war in Asia or going more than 3 posts deep with Andy but still it's right up there with going in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

Yep. They owned him $4.5m on the 23rd or around there. If he was on the roster they'd have to pay him.

At least by cutting him after those texts and before the payment they have a chance to recoup the $

The texting was the inciting incident, but there are a lot of reasons why Brown was cut

Those risks (that resulted in the cut) still very much exist

This is speculation. You don't know this.

I don't know the specifics, but I find it extremely unlikely that, having already signed him to that contract, they suddenly decided he wasn't worth that money WITHOUT the off field stuff playing a huge part. And again, whatever those reasons were, still exist.

AB finally writes what I have been thinking since watching the Buffalo game. Time for TB12 and BB to put the pressure on Robert “I cave to public and sponsor pressure” Kraft. Second time is a charm. If Brady and the rest of the players all pile into Kraft’s office and put the screws to him, that could do it. If not, take turns beating the snot out of the doughy dwarf. :)

I don't doubt the fact he would help on the field. The issue I have is he wouldn't be on the field for long. He can't go a few days, let alone a few months, without some B.S. coming up. Furthermore, he ripped the owner in a derogatory tweet. No way he ever puts on the uniform again. Not while the Krafts own the team.

And it would decrease the Chief's chances.

- Pats cut Watson...84 available
- Federal Civil Lawsuit cancelled
- AB can settle now before it's filed in state

Problems gone?

Welcome back to the team

Kraft would have egg all over his face if AB returned and promptly got in trouble. He's just too unreliable.

I actually was wondering about the #84.... I don't believe for a second he is coming back but it did make me wonder, hypothetically, if he could take #84 if he did come back.

A player may not change numbers mid-season so even if he had never left NE, AB would not have been able to switch to #84 once Watson was cut. However, in this case, AB is no longer a member of the team. So does the number rule "reset" if he came back?

Eh, it's all elementary. Not gonna happen.

Kraft won't buy in. He wants a happy ending here.

Not a for or against but can this type of thing be done? Can you cut a player and owe him money and then resign/pick him back up/let him play again under the old contract? Does the act of releasing him signal the end of the old contract thereby requiring a new contract for him to play again? Can the two sides just decide hey you owed me $9 million under the old contract and I agree to waive it if you sign me to a new $9 million contract?

Kraft already has eggs all over his face dating back to cameraplacement gate.

But at least his egged face in this situation puts another potential banner up in his stadium.

Won’t happen. Kraft needs the $4.5m to pay off Florida not to leak his video.

I personally think we rushed the decision to release him (4.5 million reasons why). But it is funny how all that media pressure went away once it happened. Whats done is done, were onto New York.

Yes please

Would be extremely welcome news. We’d just have to survive the outrage from the morality police who think all NFL players are perfect citizens

All this was made to get rid of the number 17 curse.. AB gone, Watson gone, AB back.. Later Watson will be back with another number
That's the only logical reason
